Your favorite pictures can be your most prized possessions: they’re the things we pack first when we move and unpack first when we arrive at our new home; they are the familiar friends we turn to when we want to reminisce or when we need some comfort. But photographs are not only reminders of our loved ones or our past, they are incomparable decorating tools. Whenever you want to turn a barren, boring room into a lively, inviting space, your favorite pictures in well-selected frames never fail. So how do you know which pictures to put in which frames and which frames to put in which rooms? There is an endless variety of photo frames, but some of the most versatile and beautiful are classic antique picture frames.

A wonderful feature of antique picture frames is that they work in any type of décor. You don’t need a showcase, antique-filled house in order for these frames to look spectacular. In fact, adding one or two to a contemporary room can add a touch of charm, warmth, or contrast that will highlight the modern design instead of clashing with it. Again, though, they look just as at home among more traditional decors. You can mix, match, or update your personal style without having to change your picture frames. That is incredible versatility. Antique art glass picture frames are a great choice no matter what your room looks like. Against any color palette, the frames are striking and unique.

Another factor to consider when deciding to keep your favorite photos in an antique picture frame is the size of the photo. Vintage glass photo frames add a sense of intimacy to your photos ranging from small wallet sizes to eight by tens. Having a small grouping on your mantelpiece or windowsill can immediately add personality and character to a room. Also great on walls, antique frames can be grouped in various sizes to create an eclectic look. You can easily display your larger photos with smaller ones in an attractive and fun way.

Finding the right frame for your favorite photo can be difficult because you want to accentuate the features of the picture without detracting from them with the wrong frame choice. Antique picture frames are a perfect choice for a wide range of photos because their elegant simplicity allows the subjects to shine. For instance, a beautiful black and white shot of a happy bride and groom looks wonderful with the complementing lines of glass in the frame. The frame draws the eye to the photo while providing a classic and supporting backdrop. Antique frames highlight black and white as well as sharp color photos without distracting the eye from the picture. Especially well-suited are black and white or sepia toned pictures, but having a simple antique art glass photo frame for a fun bright shot also provides a bit of welcome contrast.

Frames are meant to fill a variety of roles: they protect our photos from fingerprints, spills, tears, or curling. We want these treasures to stay safe but we also want to show them off or have them close by to remind us of loved ones or good experiences. Here your choice of frame really can make the difference in your décor. Antique frames can fit in gracefully wherever they are placed and do much to help create a comfortable and stylish ambience. Most of all, we want to look at our pictures and relive the feelings or memories they bring to us. Elegant antique glass picture frames allow us to do this without distraction, without losing our focus on the photo. Simple yet powerful, these frames display your photos beautifully.
