When it comes to the future for organically grown food, we are just now at the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more in store for this than most people realize. Right now you may have heard so much about organic food that you assume it is everywhere. Yet there are still many markets that don’t offer it.

Only about 2% of the food sources out there right now are organic in nature. Still, that is about a $40 million annual business which is nothing to push aside. Many experts have projected that within the next 10 years more than 20% of all food out there will be organically grown. They also anticipate that it will be an industry that easily makes millions of dollars annually by then.

There is no doubt that the future for organic foods is very bright. Many countries throughout the world are involved in it and trying to change over farm land to this method. That process takes up to five years though so you can be sure that they are doing the best that they can. Better methods for growing organic food continue to evolve and more consumers are asking for such products.

In regards to the pricing, those will drop as well in the future as better methods are introduced and there is more competition. If the governing bodies of the United States and other countries will offer the same subsidies to these entities as they do to those engaged in conventional methods of farming then the high cost that they incur and pass along can be significantly reduced as well.

Many people don’t realize it but a farm area of land has to be free of all chemical use for at least three years before it can begin the certification process to offer organic products. There are quite a few hoops to jump through including record keeping, soil testing, and surprise inspections. The USDA has strict guidelines in the USA for organic food labeling. The laws pertaining to this vary by country.

One area of organic foods that we will see significant changes in though is the area of animals that are consumed or that produce foods. The way in which they are raised is very different for organic food than for conventional methods. With organic food sources they don’t get any antibiotics or hormones. They have fresh air, clean living areas, and they are fed organic foods themselves.

There are quite a few organic foods that come from these animals including meat, milk, cream, yogurt, and eggs. The demand for them is starting to be much higher than for organically grown fruits and vegetables. This is because people have learned that the elements given to conventional animals can be passed to humans when they consume food sources they offer.

Organic food is here to stay, and the value of it is just starting to really be known. As more research is conducted that shows the value of eating these foods and of protecting the environment the choice will be evident to buy such food items. Those that are involved in animal rights also see the more humane ways in which these animals are fed and housed when they are used for organic food sources.

You can be certain that your selection of products that contain organic food products will also grow. Consumers are going to be able to control this by putting pressure on manufacturers. The results can include healthier people as well as an environment that is less polluted and those are things we can all be a part of.
