Doing Away With a Weight Loss Plateau

As there are countless benefits to be gained from health and fitness, a majority of those determined and conscientious about their well-being strive to attain such state by resorting to various means. It is very elementary that the principle behind healthy and successful weight loss is through a balanced diet, a regular exercise regimen and the aid of proper supplementation. Such is the power combination to guarantee weight loss. As easy as it may sound, though, weight loss actually takes time and can be an arduous test of one’s patience and commitment. Aside from the fact that a healthy diet requires applying limitations to the foods eaten and exercise demands deliberate effort, impediments can likewise present themselves during the whole process of losing weight such as a weight loss plateau.

When initially embarking on a fitness program, an individual may have the drive and enthusiasm being eager to be on the road to fitness. In fact, during the first few weeks, apparent results can be obtained. But during the 8th to 12th weeks, a weight loss plateau can get in the way thereby discouraging the eager individual in their pursuit. Because of the weight loss plateau, it is as if the fitness regimen has come to a dead end. A weight loss plateau usually occurs from 8 to 12 weeks since the induction of a fitness plan as the body has become comfortable with the fitness routine.

Changes in the body may no longer manifest during the weight loss plateau as the body has already grown accustomed to and has been conditioned to the diet and exercise habit. A weight loss plateau can dampen the get up and go spirit of an individual as the vision of a fit and trim body suddenly becomes bleak. A weight loss plateau is generally a common occurrence but there can be measures that can be taken to combat the dreaded situation. They key to avoid a weight loss plateau is concealed within one word: variation. When on a fitness plan, it may be sensible to change an exercise routine every 4 to 5 weeks so as to do away with a weight loss plateau.

For instance, when one is used to working out on a treadmill, shifting to an exercise bike after 4 weeks may be the simple trick to shun the weight loss plateau. When doing some weights, changing loads or increasing the reps can also be helpful in eradicating a weight loss plateau. As with aerobics exercise, a weight loss plateau can be prevented by maintaining 70% of the maximum heart rate even when shifting exercise methods or fitness equipments. The same can be said with dieting. Every now and then, there must be a diversity of healthy foods taken in so as not to encounter a weight loss plateau.

Changing routines on a regular pattern of 4-5 weeks not only serve to avoid a weight loss plateau but to keep the individual stimulated to adhere to the fitness regimen and such is necessary for the weight loss plan to be successful. There is no need to run the risk of becoming disillusioned with a fitness regimen because of a weight loss plateau as the goal of weight loss may just be around the corner provided the appropriate changes are made. Proper weight loss supplementation can greatly aid in shedding off pounds as well, especially when the products are safe and natural.
