How do brides take those perfect wedding pictures that you always see on photographers websites? The truth of the matter is it is not up all to the wedding photographer. You can make all the difference in your pictures. Here are a few tips to perfect wedding pictures.

Smile

It's simple, but makes all the difference. Smile from the eyes and try to be as comfortable as possible. It will show in your pictures. Don't be afraid to show some teeth. If you are uncomfortable when you smile try practicing in the mirror. Find a smile that is natural, with chin up, and not so big.

Use Makeup Sparingly

It's easy on a wedding day to get carried away with makeup. Remember that less is more and leave room for your natural beauty. Don't try something new, make sure you put your make up on in a manner you are comfortable with. Again, how comfortable you are will show in the pictures. Makup does help in eliminating glare on the face from the flash and use make up to accent the cheekbones. Cameras often pull more red out of flesh tones so be cautious of too much blush. Make sure and line your eyes and lips with care.

Posing

Again this is a good place to practice in the mirror. In posing almost nothing is good when it is straight. Try tilting your head so your eyes are not parallel to the ground. Turn your head slightly to the closest shoulder to the mirror. Try putting all your weight on your back leg and having a slight bend in your front leg. Don't be afraid to show a little sass. Push one hip out slightly and put one arm on your waist and one arm slightly bent on the side.

Slimming poses are usually those when you are turned slightly to the side. This includes your body and your head. No matter where you turn make sure you look straight into the lens of the camera unless your photographer suggests otherwise.

Have good posture and avoid slouching. Try standing different ways and find a pose you like best. Also a good idea is to look at other sample wedding photos and find poses of people that you like. Don’t be afraid to make suggestions to your photographer. It may be a good idea to send pictures of poses you like to your photographer well in advance. This will give him or her time to prepare and recognize your style and personality.

Your wedding day is a celebration. It is a new beginning and you are the center of it all. Enjoy it, have fun, and forget about everything else in your life.
