In Oregon there is Ainsworth State Park which is a park full of waterfalls. It is snuggled in amazing Columbia River Gorge. Historical knowledge is provided and all common amenities are also available. The first impression of Alfred A. Loeb State Park is that you smell a scent of Oregon myrtle wood forest. The park is full of two centuries old trees with Chetco River bouncing through the park. You also hear the sound of squirrels running here and there, voices of eagle-hawks and frolicking river otters in Springtime.

Traveling west of Portland and passing through the scenic Wilson River you come to Cape Lookout State Park. It is located between Netarts Bay and ocean giving you a stunning view of the ocean. Walk along its trails and you might be lucky to see whales along with other wildlife. Be sure to look up in the sky, you might find colorful hang-gliders or para-gliders as they catch the air to glide upwards. A secluded, Guy W. Talbot State Park, is a perfect picnic place for a group or family. Its grassy lands are dotted with Port Orfard cedars. This place invites the peace loving people.

Hat Rock State Park is a desert oasis surrounded by sagebrush hills and croppings of basalt. It is located behind McNary dam on River Columbia. The park offers shelter of cottonwood with acres of green grass fields to its visitors to escape the summer heat. Bring the kids and have fun in water or play a game in the sand. All out-door recreational facilities are available here. Beachside State Recreation Site is a unique destination that is set alongside miles of sandy beach. It makes it a perfect site to watch sea storms, whales and sunsets. It is an attractive winter camping park too.

Take a small walk on the beach and enjoy nature's beauty with the whole family. The weather at Cove Palisades State park is hot during summers and not chilly but mild during winters because its located on Oregon's high desert region. Adjoining the park are high cliffs that surround the scenic Lake Billy Chinook. Hikers here will find trails that lead them to areas full of wildlife and fascinating scenery. Two annual events attract lots of tourists, Eagle Watch in February and Lake Billy Chinook Day in September.

Viento (pronounced as Vee-En-toe, in Spanish means wind) State Park is an attractive place to camp. This place has room for all even when all other places of this area are fully occupied. It has a day use area that has easy entrée into Columbia River and its Gorge is best for windsurfing. McIver State Park is a little gem with various facilities to enjoy your vacation flawlessly. Canoes, Kayaks, golf course, river with rafts, reservable picnic sites, Discs are available for putting and driving. An annual civil-war reenactment happens during April.

Deschutes River State Recreation Area is an over night stay for campers. At this place the Deschutes River meets Columbia. Before heated weather arrives in June and turns the vegetation brown, canyon walls are painted green. These are also a respite from rainy season. The Deschutes River Trail is a loving jaunt for hikers during hot summer months. It provides coolness due to river waters and shadow of white alder and birch trees. Beverly Beach State Park is a magic walk that extends from Yaquina Head (you can also view the lighthouse from here) to the land of Otter Rocks. Weather permitting; you see many colorful kites in the sky and the wind flowing smoothly.

Right near the ocean is a campground full of huge trees and a roughly flowing bouncy creek. There is a picnic area is grassy and tree lined with usual facilities. Robert Straub State Park is a great place to walk along the beach and search the Nestucca spit that is full of heavy Chinook salmons. You can have a refreshing and memorable day at Bonnie Lure State Park.

If lucky, you can see a rare woodpecker or trout, while coming back. First impression of Cascadia State Park is its calmness. With trails going through Douglas fir tree that stand on the banks of South Santiam River. West picnic area is for the whole of year while Eastern area is open from March to October. A visit to La Pine State Park can be very exclusive with scenic waterfalls, spectacular ski-routes and watching the eagles dive from the sky to grab food. It does deserve a visit.
