Despite the doom and gloom atmosphere brought by the worldwide recession, you must not let yourself slide into a pool of business despair. For one thing, your small business can be successfully managed amidst the financial crisis because you don't have the big problems of big businesses. For another thing, you can avoid the mistakes of the big businesses. And you can advance your small business with these tips, too!

Creative Ways to Find Funding

Almost all businesses require cash to establish, to maintain and to expand. Money is, after all, the blood of business! However, with the economy as it is, you have to use creative ways to find funding for your small business. (A payday advance is one easy source but more on that later)

You can contact your local development authorities for small business funding programs in you area. Of course, you will be required to pass qualification criteria and documentary requirements, which can often be voluminous in comparison with those necessary for a payday advance, but you can enjoy higher loan amounts at lower interest rates.

You must also take advantage of non-government organizations with the primary aim of assisting small business owners. There are even organizations helping minority entrepreneurs! Ask around especially in trade circles and you are bound to find one that will answer to your funding needs, which ought to defer your plans for a payday advance.

Your small community banks may be able to help you. Don't dismiss them just because they are small because in business, you must explore every avenue possible before making a final decision. Besides, your community banks may be glad to be of service. You never know if bank officials can grant the equivalent of a payday advance although with lesser interest rates until you ask!

When push comes to shove, you can avail of a payday advance. This is especially true for business costs that are relatively small and that you need in a rush, say, a new tabletop oven for baking additional mini-cakes. More often than not, there is no harm in it as long as you used the capital to make more profit or you conserved the capital to fund future business activities. This leads us to the next topic.

Conserve Capital

Regardless of your capital source, payday advance or not, you must conserve it simply because money is scarce and whatever you have in hand, use it wisely. With that said, here are ways to do so:

* Don't purchase products and services unless and until you need them. You have to account for lead times, of course.
* Don't commit your cash/capital until you absolutely have to.
* Lease a room instead of buying the whole unit. You won't have to worry about ownership obligations like real property taxes and mortgages, both of which can lessen your profit should you pay for them.
* Purchase double-duty office equipment so as to save as much money as possible. For example, buy a fax machine that can make photocopies, too.

Soon enough, you will delightedly discover that your small business weathers the storm of the financial crisis. After all, business is about good financial management more than anything else!
