If you left your 9-5 office job because you wanted to get away from the daily grind then you might be disappointed to find yourself in a similar situation once you’ve left your office behind. Only this time you are working from the comfort and privacy of your own home. You might find you miss things like water cooler conversations with coworkers to break the monotony of daily work tasks.

Not everyone will feel this way because they will break up their day with diversions and business activities. Others may be comfortable working in peace and quiet in a private environment. However, there are those who need the human connection, even if it’s just background noise that indicates they are not alone.

If you find that you need human interaction, yet work from home, how can you cope?

An increasing number of telecommuters and at home workers are experiencing this work dynamic, and choosing to work in places such as coffee shops. Here they can work on their wireless laptop, not necessarily even talking to other people, just being in their presence instead of the quiet at home work environment.

This need to work around other people has even been capitalized upon, with small office complexes springing up that house cubicles for rent. The workers who go there may do so for just one day a week to break up the routine. These entrepreneurs may simply take a space on a sofa next to a coffee table just to soak up an office atmosphere while they work. Some may choose to work from such an office permanently. These offices are known as co-working offices, where several people come together to perform their own duties in the presence of others.

There are other reasons why work at home may end up relocating on occasion. A family trip that is required such as a funeral across the country, rather than a planned vacation may mean that you need to keep up with your work. A family illness may mean that you end up spending time sitting at a bedside, waiting for time to pass while your family member recuperates.

A wireless laptop gives you the ability to connect to the Internet wherever there is a wireless hot spot. You may find yourself working from your hotel room, or a fast food restaurant where you decide to take a break from your journey. Or you might work from a hospital bed when you yourself are ill.

The opportunity may present itself for you to accompany family on a vacation or road trip that is too long for you to be away from work. With the ability to take your home office with you there is the freedom to take your work on the road balancing business with pleasure.

Not every work at home occupation is as mobile as this, but computer based work, and even things like sewing and knitting can be taken with you. As with many other aspects of working at home, the flexibility is great when it comes to choosing where you want to work from on any particular day of your working week.
