It is an unfortunate fact that many grooms’ speeches will be the low point of the wedding. All that planning and organizing that went into the wedding can be let down by a mediocre grooms speech.

The poor groom stands up and waffles and stumbles though a poorly written speech, leaving the wedding guests shuffling about in their seats and talking amongst themselves.

The unfortunate, and by this point heavily perspiring groom, runs quickly and nervously through a succession of well worn clichés and a few lame attempts at humor, which only results in an awkward silence and a few rolling eyes from the wedding guests.

The groom, sensing the unease amongst the guests, speeds up his delivery and misses huge chunks out of his speech, in order to get himself out of this dire situation as soon as possible.

The result is a truly unforgettable groom’s speech. Actually that is not quite true, although you would like it to be forgotten, it will be preserved for life by the multitude of video recorders, digital cameras and mobile phones. Your friends and relatives will gleefully play it back to you at every opportunity they get. You may even end up a You Tube star, but for all the wrong reasons!

Good news, don’t panic, it doesn’t have to be like that.

Let’s first take stock of your situation. You may not have any experience in writing a wedding speech, and let’s face it unless you have been married before this will be completely new to you.

You may also have limited experience in public speaking, especially to an audience as diverse as a wedding crowd. Not only that but the lead up to your wedding will most likely be hectic to say the least, you have a hundred and one other things to do as well as writing your groom’s speech.

One way to overcome these obstacles is to consider using existing groom speech templates to form the basis of your speech. Be aware though that the free ones available on the internet are often dated, of poor quality, and will have been heard many times before by your wedding guests, who want to hear something new and inspiring, not the same old regurgitated junk.

The old adage ‘you get what you pay for’ is true with most things in life. You are far better considering paid for templates that have been written by professional writers and speakers. Just by filling in the gaps and making minor changes to make the speech more personal you will end up with an excellent speech. You could even mix and match pieces from different speech examples to make it truly unique to you.

This way you get a proven and high quality speech personalized to suit your own circumstances. Your wedding guests will love it and you will quickly get them on your side. You will win the admiration and respect of all the guests, including your new wife and in-laws. Not only that but you will secretly want them to put their video of your speech on You Tube. Way to go!
