Obama's next steps stopping the American recession are going to be geared toward continuing a forward movement in job creation, a greener use of power, and the restoration of the housing market.

Expanding Prosperity to Include More Workers

Up until now, the greater portion of profitability and prosperity has been scooped up by corporate interests while most Americans simply stood by and watched. Substantial changes need to be incorporated if all of that is to change. If all or most Americans are to take advantage of a progressive economy, then certain changes must occur that will allow more people to enjoy enhanced living standards.

Innovative Growth

The time has arrived for changes in the way the United States uses power in each of the aspects that utilize this power. President Obama has an eye toward a greener America and all that it entails. Not only is he looking to incorporate greener power into the daily lives of citizens, businesses, and corporations, but he is also looking to create jobs in doing so.

Promoting Job Creation

Not only does President Obama need to create new jobs for those individuals who were unemployed prior to the recession, but he also needs to create jobs to replace the ones lost during the recession. The stimulus package is designed to bring three and a half million jobs to the American people. However, this isn’t even half of the seven million jobs that are needed to bring the country’s unemployment rate back to the percentage it was at in December 2007. This fact means that President Obama must come up with additional strategies that will create even more jobs.

The tried and true strategy of lowering interest rates in an effort to stimulate the economy has proven false this time around. It simply isn’t enough to get the ball rolling. New strategies are going to have to be developed to create more jobs, especially in the public sector. However, in order for the presence of these jobs to be able to help create a progressive economy, appropriate incomes need to be attached to them along with sufficient benefits.

The Focus on Health Care

One of the reasons behind the need for national health care is the desire to create a country where everyone has the ability to do more than simply make ends meet with the help of a few credit cards. Providing health care for everyone assures that medical debts don’t get in the way of this.

The Next Steps in Stopping the American Recession

The next steps in stopping the American recession are multi-faceted. Innovative policies must be developed to promote domestic manufacturing in an effort to promote that industry into a thriving one. Financial investments in developing new jobs in the health care, education, and energy sectors must be implemented. Tax changes will also be part of this package in order to ensure sufficient funding to back up each change.
