Excepting some holidays, the ProMetric Testing Centers administer the PMP Exam every day. All you have to do is to prepare for the four-exam, get PMI eligibility and sign up for the big day.

It is All in The Preparation

Assuming you have completed your PMP training the next step is preparing for the PMP Exam. The best source of information for the exam requirements is the PMP Handbook, which has five sections:

* Eligibility
* Examination information
* Policies and Procedures
* Credential Terms of Use
* Credential Application Forms

The information in the handbook is complete and adheres to PMI requirements. In the matter of fees for your PMP exam, you have to prepare $100 for PMI membership and $405 for certification fees. Non-members are charged $555 for certification fees. Usually the provider of your PMP training helps you get listed for the exam. Your responsibility is coming up with the fees and reviewing what you have learned from your training.

Exam Preparation Tips

All documents that are needed should be filed and ready. This eliminates the time wasted going through your documents looking for a missing piece of paper. The stress can affect your final preparations for the exam or you lose your chance for the exam. But then the exams are held everyday so there's no worry here.

Visiting the examination site to have an idea of the exam environment prepares your mind for the actual test. Knowing how things are done and how the computer-based exam is run diminishes your anxieties if you are not computer savvy. Mind you, anxiety can take a toll on your exam performance causing you to miss a few points to cinch the test because of the inadequacy of your computer skills.

The PMP training provider should help you with your software literacy issue. Inform your instructor about this concern early on the training so this can be incorporated into your training Familiarizing yourself with the technology involve gives you the confidence to handle a computer-based PMP Exam. Knowing the basics and with some helpful coaching, you can manage the computer-based exam.

The Day Before the Exam

While some encourage taking the day off, others require you brush up on your weak areas. If you have kept a log of your progress during the PMP training, you know how you fare. Do not drop those books yet if there is something bothering you; take note of it before the PMP Exam. Go through your notes one last time to check if you have it all down to pat. You will be grateful that you did if the questions pop up during the exam.

Make sure everything you have to take along to the examination center is ready, i.e. calculator, pencil, rough paper, and ear plugs, are all in one place ready for pickup.

The Weeks before the Exam

Organize your time so you can have enough time for study, work, exercise and play. Stick to your schedule. If you plan a one-hour online session and another hour to read everything that would be fine BUT stick to your schedule.

When the PMP Exam is due, you are ready, and that is a good sign.
