How Experts Do It!

With Web 2.0 all the rage, how do you exactly create a Web 2.0 site?

“Web 2.0 Characteristics”

• Integration of technological interactivity between web sites and services like Twitter , Addthis
• Web Analytics Tracking
• Ipod Style, Touch Screen Design and Feel
• Single Column
• Big Text
• Gradients , Reflections & Cute Icons

Here some quick tips

Keep things simple and sweet. Think simple. This clearly defines the mastery of focus and emphasis on what you should be selling or endorsing. What people should immediately see in your website is your company’s major goal: to sell.

Web 2.0 logo. If you are very particular with how your image should be perceived by your audience, you do not actually have to hire a professional web artist to do the logo for you. There are so many free tools in the internet that can help you create your own logo. It does not have to be too complicated—think about how Digg, Youtube, Ikimobile.com made that winning move. Usual characteristics are that it is smooth, clean and 3D button like.

Minimize columns and tabs. Navigating from one part of the website to the other could mean a lot to the effectiveness of your internet marketing strategies. Technically, these are called goals. A goal is composed of effective site navigation that ensures the Web 2.0 Website Designer that he entices the user to purchase their products or avail of their services. If you are creating a pitch page try to keep it as 1 column and the cardinal rule of not more than 1.5 pages of scrolling. Keep Layout Centralized and start from eye-level.

Screen Real-Estate: Best – Practices is to keep screen white (but it depends). Navigation should be large, bold and obvious.

Bigger text: Lots of newer “2.0” websites have much bigger text as compared to older-style design. Reason is simple, human are extremely terrible when it comes to digestion huge volume of information. Feel free to bold important areas as well to draw attention.

Strong Colours: Bright rich colors visually attract eyeballs. Use them to divide section and highlight important elements. Treat them as sign boards.

Rich Surfaces : Most popular 2.0 website use 3D effects sparingly, but the proper use of drop-shadows, gradients and reflections help make visual interface feel more matured and polished. The best areas to apply this effect would be on important content and your navigation bar.

Gradients: Web 2.0 designers simply love them to help soften area and create an illusion of a raised surface area. One common gradient combo is to use blue-to-white, which creates an aerial perspective as if the background fades away into the horizon. You should also note that gradients work best when juxtaposed with areas of flat color or tone.

Reflections: Realistic effects of water droplets, shiny surfaces and polished acrylic buttons have been very popular recently. Usually these are highlights caused by a light source above the tabs which when combined with an inner, diffused glow help creates a plastic effect. Strong white highlight can also create a carbon-fiber appearance.

Cute icons: Icons has always been used to project easily recognizable meanings in a contextual and graphical manner. A hallmark of most web 2.0 sites, especially when you are highlighting specific “wow” factors of your product or services.
