Vail Colorado... if you're planning to make a trip to Vail this year, you should first get to know Vail transportation in order to see what suits your needs.

One of the best ways to get to Vail is flying into Eagle County Regional Airport. There is bus service from the airport to Vail Valley 7 days a week so you do not have to worry about getting to town once you land. It is also cheaper to fly into Eagle County than it is to fly to Denver, which is the other airport you can use and drive down to Vail in a couple of hours time.

However, before you rush off to book your tickets to Eagle County, make sure that you check the ECO bus schedule, which runs the bus service from the airport to town. It is important to ensure that the schedule matches your flight timings. If you are traveling with a lot of luggage and do not want to wait for the bus, you can always take the shuttle. However, the bus is more enjoyable and cheaper. On the way, the bus stops at Beaver Creek Reception, Avon Center and Lionshead before Vail. It is quite possible that you arrive in Vail, you might have to either walk to your hotel or lodge, transfer to another bus or use the hotel shuttle to reach your end destination.

If you are using the bus from Eagle County Airport to Vail, do check with your hotel or lodge. They will inform you where to get off so that you can use the free bus operated by the town of Vail or the shuttle by the hotel or lodge. It usually costs $3 to get from Eagle County Airport to Vail and you have to be at the bus stop for the bus to halt for you. Make sure you are carrying sufficient loose money with you as the driver will not give you change. The bus stop right outside the baggage claim area, and it not difficult to find.

However, if you do not want to take advantage of the cheap Vail transportation, you always fly into Denver International Airport. This is approximately 120 miles from Vail and it takes around two to two and a half hours drive to get to the Valley. In winter, you can take the shuttle from the airport. In summer, you have the option of renting a car and driving at your own leisure. However, you should weigh the expense between renting a car and using a shuttle.

If you want to drive from Denver in winter, be prepared to shell out money. Many hotels charge for parking vehicles overnight, and if you drive to the slopes for skiing, you will also have to pay to park your vehicle during the day.

That is why it makes sense to utilize the free Vail transportation system in the town. The buses in the town are free and you do not have to pay to use them. Many hotels also have their own shuttles that help to transport skiers from the hotel to the slopes.
