The City of Truro in Cornwall has some beautiful parks and gardens that can be enjoyed by the entire family. For relaxation, for play and for picnics.

The municipal parks are always well looked after by the local council who take great pride in giving the people of Truro opens spaces that can be enjoyed by the local community as well as visitors to the City of Truro.

Victoria Gardens

Is located on St. Georges Road just beside the viaduct that takes trains to Truro station. The gardens were created to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Within the Gardens are many shrubs flowers and trees that can be enjoyed all year round. The Gardens also house a traditional band-stand and through the summer, there are many concerts arranged by Truro City Council.

The magnificent viaduct adjacent to the park passes over St. Georges Road and carries trains from Penzance to Paddington via Truro. It was originally erected by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in 1859. The present viaduct was constructed in 1904 and is a magnificent structure that forms part of the unique skyline of Truro along with Truro Cathedral. A city left relatively free of any modern tower-block constructions.

Also on St. Georges Road there is a play area for the children with swings, slides and sandpit and the recently opened Skate Park where you can hone your Skate Boarding skills.

Boscawen Park

On the road toward Malpas adjacent to the Truro River is the largest park within the city of Truro. With distant views of the city, the Cathedral dominates the skline. The park has swings, slides, a roundabout and a “jungle” style apparatus for the older children. There is also s snack bar selling coffee, tea and other refreshments. The park is located next to Truro Cricket club and has tennis courts and football pitches.

The park is also the venue for the annual “Gig on the Green.”

Bosvigo Gardens are hidden away down Dobbs Lane in Truro. The garden is split in to a number of areas including the “walled garden” that is a beautiful display of colour through the summer months. There is the “hot garden” which features a host of colours through August and September. The “Vean garden” is the front garden of the smaller property that is attached to the main house. The other garden areas include the “pink & grey garden,” the “Courtyards” and “Azalea Dell.” Finally, there is the “Woodland garden” which, in spring, is carpeted with Snowdrops and scented Narcissus.
