When you go into an insurance agency and ask for "basic full coverage," do you fully understand the coverage details of the insurance policy you are purchasing? Most of the time, purchasing “basic full coverage” entails that a person has purchased the lowest liability coverage available for a vehicle or vehicles. The lowest liability coverage includes bodily injury coverage at $15,000 per person, $30,000 per accident, and $10,000 in property damage coverage for other parties involved. Many people refer to this coverage as BIPD, meaning “Bodily Injury” and “Property Damage.” Under “basic full coverage,” you have also purchased comprehensive insurance, which covers fire, theft and vandalism. Collision coverage is also included meaning if your vehicle is in a collision accident of any sort, you are covered, although a deductible is chosen anywhere from $100 to $1,500, of which you are responsible in order for the company to investigate and finish the claim process. If you wish to have a low monthly insurance payment, a high deductible should be chosen. However, if you would

Under a basic full coverage insurance plan, a person is NOT insured for individual medical payments or for medical payments of passengers. Basic full coverage does NOT cover the un-insured motorist or under-insured motorist. Glass Coverage, vehicle towing, and vehicle rental are also NOT included in a basic full coverage insurance policy.

Basic full coverage insurance satisfies the Arizona state mandatory insurance coverage law and most of the time, the basic full coverage insurance policy also satisfies the lien holder and/or finance company insurance coverage requirements. However, you may want to consider another automobile insurance coverage policy if:

1. You are depending on your automotive insurance policy to have a sufficient amount of coverage above the Arizona state mandatory insurance coverage law.

2. You do not want to be at a higher risk of getting sued due to low insurance coverage or insufficient insurance coverage.

3. You do not want to be at a higher risk of having someone putting a lien on any of your assets as a result of low insurance coverage or insufficient insurance coverage.

4. You would like your insurance policy to pay for the cost to rent a loaner vehicle if you need a loaner vehicle to drive while your vehicle is undergoing repairs after an accident.

It is imperative that a prospective insurance policy purchaser is aware of the exact insurance coverage details for each plan he or she is looking to purchase, including a basic full coverage policy. In order to fully understand the details of the several automotive insurance coverage policies that are available, including basic full coverage, a prospective insurance policy purchaser should speak with a representative who is knowledgeable and can take care of individual needs.
