It is called spontaneous travel because virtually no planning is involved. You don't even make an itinerary. As long as you know where you want to go, then that's good enough.

But you need to read a bit about your destination. That way, you know what and what not to bring. In addition, you would know which places to check out and which locations to avoid. Let the city guide you on your adventure. Let your heart lead you.

2. Get loaded.

When you are enjoying a spontaneous travel - especially when you are travelling alone - make sure that you have enough money with you. Don't bring too much, or too little. Keep a budget and try your best to stay within your set limits. This way, you can still exercise spontaneity in your activities, but you don't overspend. After all, you don't want to go home after a fulfilling trip and find out that you've spent all your savings. Now, where's the fulfilling part in that?

Also, know the essentials - so you can bring them. If you are going to a tropical country or to one of your country's pristine beaches, make sure you are ready with your swimwear and your sun block lotion. If you set your heart to joining mountain trekking, of course, don't forget your hiking boots.

3. Be Open.

The best thing about a spontaneous travel is that you are not bound by plans and pre-conceived set of activities. As such, live the essence of this kind of travel and be open to the possibilities.

If you are single, be open to the fact that you might meet someone interesting during your trip. If you are indulging in this travel to mend a broken heart, be aware that you might still be reminded of the person who has caused you pain even if you are sitting on the sandy beaches of Miami, for example. If you are simply out to take a break from the office, be open to the possibility that someone may just offer you a more interesting job. Be open to everything.

Once again, the best thing about taking a spontaneous travel is that you are opening a lot of possibilities. So if you have lived your life doing a lot of planning, you might want to stop for a while. If you have been obsessed about your schedules, goals and timelines, take the time to pause. Life is full of surprises - you might just be amazed at what a little spontaneity can bring into your scheduled and carefully planned life.
