You have the offer of the dream job in your hands and the opportunity to advance your career which you have been working so hard for except you’re on the East Coast and you need to start next week in California!

Uprooting home and family is hard enough with the simple logistics of the move, breaking social and familial ties and getting settled in a new environment. More than this, your new job location may be in a part of the country you are simply not familiar with so how do you know which parts of town to look for a new home in, where are the good schools located at, how do you choose a new home and base to set your family and yourself up with and yet know so little about the area?

This is where temporary corporate housing really makes a difference. Temporary corporate housing allows you to get yourself and if need be, your family established in the new location which is cost-effective and at the same time provides you with a range of services you will need so you have time to get on with getting your feet under your new desk and getting familiar with the new area so you can find a permanent home.

Corporate accommodation is usually let on a temporary basis without the need to sign up for 6-month or annual leases; typically it is available on a month-by-month basis. This avoids you becoming entangled in a costly lease which you will not need or use. In addition, services are frequently added such as maid service, gardening, pool maintenance – in short, you have no responsibility to maintain any aspect of the dwelling.

Corporate accommodation usually comes fully furnished with all the utensils and equipment you need on a daily basis such as pots and pans, TV with cable, telephone service. In addition the utilities are typically included in the rental payment so you have no issues with applying for a utility service and then paying for deposits and initial charges – in short, you pay the rent, collect a key and start living.

You are also able to use a temporary corporate leased unit as accommodation just for yourself while your family remains behind to handle the sale of your old home or finish the school year. This gives you plenty of time to become accustomed to the new area and avoid the forced sale of your old home in order to get you into a new home at the new location – in either instance, rushing to sell will deflate the price you expect to achieve and rushing to buy a new home will inflate the price you are likely to pay – a considerable “double-whammy” which any pay rise is unlikely to cover.

With the current housing market collapse, many providers of corporate accommodation have been moving into the market because the price of developments is so low at the moment. This in turn means there is now a much wider range of accommodation options to choose from and covers a much wider budget range too. Temporary corporate housing provides a very valuable service for anyone relocating and allows users to move their household and family using their own timetable rather than that demanded by a new job start as well as helping you save a great deal of time, energy and money.
