Generally, United States abides by the motorbike helmet laws. Using a helmet is mandatory but some people still don’t feel its necessity and it is probably because they are more concerned about getting the cold wind than protecting their head. It is immensely important to deal with the past of these helmets to understand its effectual characteristic.

Past Laws about Motorbike Helmet

The year 1967 witnessed the federal government making the use of helmet a law. They passed the laws in order to have federal funds for the purpose of highway construction. 40 states brought this law in practice within the span of 1969. Only 3 states didn’t do it within 1975. From then on, it has undergone many changes but still the states generally abide by the fact that a proper way to ride bike is to do it with a helmet.

Factors Responsible For the Implementation of the Laws

Many people met with accident without helmet. It is so because the entire mechanism of a motorbike makes it quite probable to get crashed. In fact, it is devoid of anything so protective like a four-wheeler for the rider. For such reasons, helmet was of paramount significance.

On the eve of riding the bike, it is better to have a familiarity with the laws that often vary from state to state. To talk about the present time, 4 states don’t have helmet laws. As for the others, the laws vary. In some states, it is mandatory to use full helmets and in some places half helmet will do. There are still some places where helmet is not an important issue. But, think twice before going into a full helmet state with a half helmet. Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Texas are now the 7 states that have made it mandatory for all grown-up bikers below the age of 20 to use helmets.

For any consistent helmet user, these states don’t matter a great deal. However, for someone who hates to use a helmet, these states would come up with the word ‘problem’.

Normally, the penalty for riding without motorcycle helmets is approximately $ 150.00 but it varies somewhat. So, it might be of immense importance to have a copy of the above-mentioned list.

Such laws often prompt the riders to use helmet. Its necessity becomes clear with the statistics that just 50% of the riders used helmets in those places where no such laws exist. The picture changed completely with the implementation of the laws. In fact, helmets also help us to catch thieves of motorbikes because they don’t use helmets and it becomes quite easy to identify them.

There is no doubt that it is of paramount significance to use helmets while riding bikes as it saves your head from any dangerous accident. So, let’s put it in the way that using helmets not only lessens the number of deaths, it also stops motorbikes being theft. So, let’s ride properly and properly means wearing a helmet.
