West Sussex is a county located in the south of England, connected to borders of East Sussex at Brighton and Hove, Hampshire and Surrey. Since the 12th century, the county of Sussex has been split into two parts, East and West. It gained separate county councils in 1888, but still was a single ceremonial county until 1974 and the coming into force under the Local Government Act 1972.

West Sussex is a distinctive county, famous for its stately homes and castles such as Arundel Castle and Bramber Castle. Most of the county is protected countryside and rural, offering popular trails both for walking, trekking and cycling for visitors and residents alike. Its county town is Chichester and the highest summit of the county is Black Down, at 280 m or 919 ft.

The M23 motorway and A23 passes in the east of the county from Waterloo in London to all the way to Brighton. There are other major roads such as A272, which runs from east to west and the A27 that does the same but is nearer to the coast and offers a scenic beauty of the sea and the A272 that goes in the center of the county. Most of the coast is touched by the A259, which is usually taken as a different route to the A27.

Gatwick Airport is the second largest in UK, which has handled more than 32 million travelers in 2005. It is located in the northern side of Crawley. Considerably a little smaller local and regional airport is situated at Shoreham. The Arun Valley Line, the Brighton Main Line and the West Coastway Line are the three main railway routes that are established in the county.

This county is famous because of its stately homes, palaces and castles. If anybody wants to see ancient British, he/she should come to West Sussex. It has many historical buildings such as Barnham Windmill, High Salvington windmill, Shipley Windmill, Cobnor House the Home to the Beale Family who were all the time involved with Chichester Harbour, Uppark, Goodwood House and Goodwood Motor Circuit, Petworth House, Arundel Castle, Standen, East Grinstead, Sackville College, a Jacobean almshouse in East Grinstead, Queen Victoria Hospital East Grinstead a home of the McIndoe burns centre. So, how about a visit to Weald and Downland Open Air Museum of Historic Buildings at Singleton, Worth Church, Worth, Crawley, Tangmere Military Aviation Museum, Amberley Working Museum and Steyning Museum. Natural beauty is loved by all and many natural parks and places are located such as Stansted Park, WWT Arundel that is a nature reserve of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Selsey Bill, South Downs Way - a long distance footpath and Wakehurst Palace.
