Tips on Getting Serious About Having Less Wrinkles

It’s not unusual to want less wrinkles, but not many people take the steps that are necessary to have a more youthful appearance. Most people would like to have fewer health problems, too, but few people are willing to do what it takes to stay healthy.

If you are willing to make the effort, the information in this article will help you have healthier, younger looking skin, today and in the future. Many of these tips will improve your overall health, as well.

Your body needs fat, protein and carbohydrates to function. A good balance of those three things and choosing the right “type” of each are important first steps for anyone that wants to look and feel better.

The best kind of fat is omega-3 fat. We get it primarily from fish, but other good sources include olive oil and walnuts. Free fatty acids are the primary component of the skin’s sebum, which provides natural protection and lubrication. Excessive dryness is the first symptom of fatty acid deficiency.

Lean protein from fish and chicken is better for your health than red meat. You also need to be sure that you have enough protein in your diet, because without it, the body cannot produce new skin cells. New skin cell production is important for anyone that wants less wrinkles, because production usually slows down with age.

The average person needs a minimum of a half gram of protein per pound of body weight. If you are also trying to build muscle, you need about a gram per pound.

In some cases, carbohydrates make up the majority of a person’s caloric intake, especially in the US, where practically everything is served on bread. The problem is that the carbohydrates most people get, such as those found in most kinds of bread, are simple carbohydrates, which contribute to aging throughout the body.

If you are serious about having less wrinkles, as time goes by, eat more fruits and vegetables. Choose whole grains like oatmeal, instead of processed flour. Research has shown that simple carbohydrates contribute to skin wrinkling and aging. Whereas complex carbohydrates like fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants, which counter free radicals, one of the major causes of aging, throughout the body.

Good fats and protein are nutrients that are beneficial when eat and when applied directly. If your moisturizer does not contain natural oils, such as grape seed, and active proteins, particularly keratin, then it is not doing everything that it could to help you have less wrinkles.

If you don’t use a moisturizer, you should start. We tend to over-wash our faces, removing the protective oils that help prevent an aged appearance. A good moisturizer helps to replenish those natural oils.

Of course, not all moisturizers are actually replenishing. Most of them contain petrolatum and mineral oil, which are not compatible with the skin’s sebum.

In short, the right foods are the keys to having less wrinkles. We just need to remember to feed our faces, too.
