He attended East Tennessee State University, and involved himself in a bluegrass program. He was saving hard so he could buy himself a new guitar. And before long, he was on the way to Nashville, the acknowledged home of country music.

Talented he was, and people soon sat up and took notice of this young man. Within months, in early 1992, he’d signed a deal with music giant BMI. In My Wildest Dreams and All I Need to Know were two of his early hits which fan still hum now and then. The persisting charm of his songs lies in the fact that he infuses his own experience with timeless emotion and achieves a blend that never goes wrong. Listeners can instantly relate to the person who actually write the song, and not just idolize Kenny Chesney the celebrity musician.

Like many of his contemporaries in the world of glitz and glamour, Chesney has ventured into a road less traveled by. He has launched his own line of rum. And he has even arranged for surveys among his fans to record how they like his liquors.
