Want More Subscribers? Ask For Them!

There is an old saying among Internet marketers that the money is in the list, and I have to tell you that if you have never experienced this for yourself, you are really leaving a lot of money on the table. It doesn't matter what market you're in, if you're online, you should be collecting e-mail addresses from people that come to your website. If you are already collecting e-mail addresses from your visitors, you should find ways to increase the amount of addresses that you are receiving. You want to know a secret on how to increase the numbers you are seeing? Start asking them to subscribe.

Far too many websites have subscription boxes that exist on the webpage but they don't really take up any important real estate on the page itself. You are not going to get any subscribers at all, or barely any at the very least if you have the subscription box hidden in some corner of the website with a small headline that says, join our newsletter. If you really want to get the subscriber, you need to get in their face and let them know that they have to join your newsletter because of all of the benefits that they are going to get from doing so.

One of the ways that you can do this is by offering them something of importance in exchange for giving up their e-mail address. People consider their e-mail address to be something of a sacred possession and very few of them are going to give them out without at least thinking a little bit about it. If you give them something of importance in exchange for their e-mail address, you're basically dangling a carrot in front of their noses and holding it just out of reach, on the other side of the subscribe box. Make it compelling, and make sure that it is relevant to what it is that your website is talking about and you will receive many more subscribers as a result.

Something else that should not be overlooked is the power of the pop up window. Most people consider the pop up window to be dead, especially with all of the pop up blocking technology that is currently out there. There are plenty of pop up windows, however, that are actually elements that are on the webpage itself so they are unblockable by any software. As long as you make the pop up window relevant and make sure that it is of interest to your visitor, very few people will complain and you would be surprised with the number of subscribers that you get.

There are a number of different tricks that you can use, such as using video in order to get more subscribers, or buildings squeeze pages which have no other exit other than the subscribe box. Always make sure that you are testing these different methods in order to find the ones that are going to work best for you. Just keep in mind that the larger your list is, the more profitable your business is going to be and take it from there.
