When it comes to writing articles equipped with SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, the main idea is to utilize the correct keywords, without these there is no SEO article. What qualifies as a SEO keyword? A keyword is the word or phrase someone plugs into the search box when looking for information. How does one determine the correct word or words to naturally draw the attention of search engines? There is not a definitive answer for this; there are simply various methods that one may employee when searching for effective SEO keywords.

Free Keywords Tool

The quickest way to uncover keywords or phrases is through the use of the free keyword tools by Google or Overture. Plug in the words ‘keyword tool’ and you will have instant access to unlimited amounts of searching. The best thing to do is to plug in the keyword or phrase that involves your business or the article topic. Once that is done, notice not only the top answers for that specific word or words, notice the other top 5-10 phrases as well. An example might be, if you're searching "swimming pools", the next highest searches might be indoor pools, outdoor pools, or even public pools. If one of those is of interest to your business or article then use it.

Paid Keywords Tool

If you want something more high tech, there are paid sites/tools to help you find the best SEO keyword or key phrases. One of these companies is Wordtracker. This company helps you to determine the most effective SEO keyword or phrase for your website. It then goes a step further to help find out who your competitors are and how they are employing these keywords. Wordtracker then develops a plan for you on those keywords in order for your site to reach it’s highest traffic potential. Another type of SEO keyword software is Keyword Elite. This software gives you a list of keywords along with helping you develop effective Adwords campaigns. It helps to create information based on the keyword list. Keyword Elite also investigates the competitors in your field and tells you what keywords they are using and how effective they are with them.

Natural SEO Research

There is a more natural way to determine the most effective SEO keywords or key phrases for your website. It involves taking inventory of your web logs and emails. Examine which of your web log posts gets the most comments. Take note of what the comments are about. The topics of the posts as well as the comments for them give you a good indication as to the subject that interests your readers, clients or customers. Next, delve into your business emails and determine what the most common subject that is being mentioned is. This is another clue as to what your audience is looking for. These are the topics/subjects that your target audience is plugging into the search box. Another natural way to search for SEO keywords or key phrases is to simply ask. Send out a questionnaire to everyone on your email list. Ask your audience what interests them in regards to your website business. What information would they like to receive on your business? Use that information to create a keyword rich article or articles.

Whichever method you employee to find the right SEO keywords or key phrases is strictly decided by your preference. Keywords and key phrases should be considered to be essential in the world of internet business. They are the quickest and most cost effective way to drive traffic to your website.
