Arsenic filter is the only option to provide your family and yourself, pure drinking water, when the water supplied to your home is Arsenic contaminated. Arsenic is non-soluble in water but it gets easily supplemented with phosphate. However, arsenic filters are equipped to extract and eliminate dissolved arsenic from the water and make it safe for drinking.

Arsenic, being a highly toxic material has been classified as carcinogen by most of the countries in the world. Besides providing protection from such harmful materials, arsenic filter is easy to use as well. All you need to use is a feather touch button to get absolutely pure water free from all sorts of impurities. The user-friendly feature of these arsenic filters has made them even more popular and there is a huge demand for it in the market.

Things to do before you buy

An Arsenic filter is something that you should buy after proper assessment. You need to judge whether you actually need the filter or not and the type of filter that will suit your needs in the best possible way. The first and foremost thing to do is to identify the amount of arsenic content in the water. Then assess whether it is more than the Maximum Contaminant Level (which is 0.010mg/1 in case of Arsenic).

If you already have a water filter at your home, get it checked whether it truly gets the water rid of all such impurities. The expert's opinion will be very vital in these cases. Another important aspect is to check whether the purifier is certified or approved to treat arsenic and supply with pure drinking water. If you are worried about availability of experts, get the help of NSF International – a highly equipped organization to run testing programs and provide you the right assessments of the water supplied to you. NSF is an internationally recognized organization that also carries out surprise inspection at various water treatment-manufacturing plants.

Arsenic is of two types, organic and inorganic - the organic is more harmful. However, inorganic arsenic is further distinguished into two chemical forms called trivalent 9 (As III) and pentavalent (As V). This classification is also important for you to know as your choice of the arsenic filter also depends on the type of arsenic present in the water. In fact, type of arsenic can easily change from one form to another as the As III present in the source water may well change to As V.

No compromise with quality

Sometimes people get too much attracted to a low cost appliance but it should not be done by compromising with the quality. Arsenic filter available at very low price often has some flaws. While buying an Arsenic filter, you need to verify, whether the filter purifies the arsenic contaminated water below the regulated MCL and make it fit for drinking.

Hence, it is suggested not to make price the only criteria to buy an arsenic filter, when the concern is your life. There are numerous high quality filters available in the market and these filters usually reduce particulate matter to 0.5 micron. These superior filters are also equipped to reduce chlorine, cysts, VOCs and arsenic much below the MCL.
