Email marketing is an effective way to inform people about various products and services. You can use any standard web based mail service to send marketing emails. However, get good email marketing software, if you want your campaign to be effective because standard mail services or clients do not have features required to design a good campaign. So, what should you expect from your email campaign software; in terms of the features?

The software you purchase should have a control panel with a range of features. These features should be easy to use so that you can develop very effective email campaigns. Most reputed software will have plenty of features. What sets the best one apart, from the rest, is one that has plenty of features, which are easy to use. The application you download should be intuitive. For instance, it should have an email list management feature, which will remove email addresses of users, who wish to opt-out.

The software should send an automated welcome message, when a new user signs-up for your campaign. The email campaign software should let you choose from a range of HTML based email templates. The only thing you need to do is alter it as per your requirement and add the content. Seasoned marketers will tell you that an email is more likely to be read by users, if it’s personalized. The software should customize the campaign and incorporate first names of all your subscribers. This will give subscribers the impression that you are talking to them directly.

It is very important to test your campaign, before you send it to anyone. Hence, your software should have a feature that will test your campaign through a range of browsers and email clients. In doing so, you can make sure that your emails look the same across all browsers and email clients. The application should also have a feature that will test your emails for spam. This is important because most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are very stringent, when it comes to spam. For instance, the spam test feature will ensure that there aren’t any terms, associated with spam, in your subject line.

The most important feature that your software should have is customer data collection. This means, your software should keep track of your campaigns and provide statistical data like open rates, click-through rates, forwards, bounces and unsubscribe requests. Without the knowledge of these things, you will never know if your campaign is headed in the direction, you want it to. You will also not know if you need to make any improvements in the same.

Free email marketing campaigns, when carried out correctly, can give your sales and website traffic a big boost. To execute it correctly, get hold of an email marketing application that offers all the above mentioned features. You can also take some time out and read articles on some free resources, available on the Internet. There are many available so choose carefully.
