Skiing is a winter sport and one of the things that you will need to do once the season is over is to properly store your ski equipment until the next season. Storing and maintaining your ski gear the right way will help you save money since you won't have to keep on replacing some of the equipment for skiing that may get damaged from lack of care or maintenance. You can keep on skiing for several years with the use of the same equipment for skiing as long as you keep them in good shape with proper storage and maintenance.

Storing Your Ski Equipment Properly

Once you say goodbye to the snow and the slopes for the year, you will need to keep your gear in good order until the next time you course down those mountains. Here are some of the tips you can follow to properly store your ski equipment until the next snowfall:

- Before you store your skis away for the season, make sure that they are clean and free of any dirt and wax build-up. Scrape off wax that you find on your skis with the use of a plastic scraper. You can buy these at your favorite ski gear shop.

- Put your skis in a ski bag before you safely stow them away. Try to purchase a good quality yet cheap ski bag during off season. This makes them a whole lot cheaper.

- To prevent skis from crisscrossing and getting damaged while in storage, bind these with the use of Velcro ski wraps.

- Ski boots should also be stored properly. Keep these dry and free from debris and dirt by putting them in a clean plastic garbage bag and tying off the end with a twist tie or cord.

Ski Equipment Maintenance

Ski equipment maintenance and care does not only happen when you are preparing to store them during the summer months. Maintenance also needs to be done even more so when they are being actively used. Here are a few maintenance tips you can try on your ski equipment before, during, and after the season:

- Always wipe your skis dry after you use them. If your skis are not constructed out of the material known as high carbon steel, the edges of your skis will rust if they are not dried after every use.

- Take care where you put your skis. Leaning them against moist objects or even hot areas can easily damage them.

- Make sure your bindings are regularly checked by professionals you can find in ski shops for corrosion and proper functionality.

- Keep your ski boots clean and dry after every use. Buckle them back up after taking them off to help them keep their proper shape and form.

- Transporting your skis and other ski equipment should be done with care. Proper bindings and covers need to be used to ensure that they get to and from their destinations in perfect condition.
- Make sure to wax the bases of your skis before you use them. This helps protect them from abrasions brought about by constant use.
