Gaetano Pesce, an Italian by nationality, was born and brought up in La Spezia, Italy in 1939. The Italian designer and architect underwent his schooling in Venice at the University of Venice, where he majored in architecture and industrial design.

Upon his graduation, Gaetano Pesce became a renowned designer and architect. Due to his outstanding work, he was able to get recruited and work for well established companies and other organizations such as the Cassina and Vitra. Some of the most renowned works of Gaetano Pesce include illustrious edifices, like the Organic Building which is positioned in Osaka.

Gaetano Pesce’s skills and experience in art related works drove many learning institutions to frequently invite the architect to lecture on architectural related works. Some of these institutions included the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science also known as the Copper Union located in Downtown Manhattan, New York City as well as the Institut d'Architecture et d'Etudes Urbaines, which is located in Strasbourg.

Other works by Gaetano Pesce which contributed to his reputation as an eccentric designer included the UP armchair. Even though this lounge armchair was a classic masterpiece, it premiered at the Milan Furniture Show in 1969. Although the authentic modernization of this armchair was in the way the packaging was done, the organic adornment of the armchair had an appeal that was uncomplicated and relaxed.

The armchair which was available in the furniture market as a complete set was castled out of polyurethane froth which had to be squashed in a void till it became flat in shape. The armchair had its pack in a PVC shroud. This lounge armchair was one of the design masterpieces of the time and contrasted to the sanitary lines of the moulded plastic chairs that were in the furniture market.

In 1980, Gaetano Pesce’s work was highly documented after the introduction of the New York Sunrise sofa. The sofa was in itself a clear-cut presentation of the skyline and the sun. The sofa was available in polyurethane foam.

Other designs by designer Gaetano Pesce included the Moloch lamp. The design was a close imitation of the then popular swing-arm "Luxo" lamp. Gaetano Pesce’s other significant works included the well-designed 1986 lamp series. These series included the Airport Square and Bastone lamps, which were wall mounted.

Gaetano Pesce’s design of melted plastic chairs and tables which he designed in 1980 can be classified as a representative of the designer’s attempt to devise production that has a predisposition or a propensity for implication. Due to the high percentage of elegance in Gaetano Pesce’s furniture design, other outstanding designers took after Gaetano. These designers consisted of Cassina, B and B Italy, VITRA and Knoll.

Gaetano’s artistic architectural work was, however, an extensive loom to architectural development that embraced the design of stuff, and utilized other inventive lingo and performance.

In 1977, Gaetano Pesce was part of the team that was involved in a mission to design a blueprint for the Pahlavi National Library in Tehran. The Italian artist also designed a suburban surpass in Brazil between1987and 1989. The tower was a clear manifestation of Gaetano’s ingenuity.
