Lower levels of permeability are better than higher ones as they will let less dust and dirt through.

Sun protection is often overlooked when people come to choose a protective cover. Other factors to look at when selecting your car cover include, how well the cover will protect from the effects of bird droppings, acid rain, tree sap and the effects of a ball being thrown or kicked against the vehicle (ding protection from kids and pets). Also, you need to consider how well the cover will itself be protected from being stored for so long when not in use and how easy it is to cover your vehicle and take down, especially in windy conditions.
