The Poodle is considered by many as one of the most popular and most intelligent breeds of dog.

Poodles are beautiful to look at and they are make keen hunting companions. they have admirable work instincts, and are great in learning and performing tricks. Poodles are known to be agile and athletic. They are quite a versatile dog breed.

Poodles come in different varieties. There are standard types that excel in hunting and working. There are also miniature poodles and toy poodles that are often used for show and performances.

Poodles have dense curly coats. They shed minimally but their fur still needs regular grooming. Their coats can be groomed to almost any style. Most people will enjoy styling their poodles coats and the dogs seem to enjoy it as well.

The origin of Poodles is a bit of a mystery but they are widely considered to have been originally bred to be retrievers or pointers, especially in the water. Today, even Toy Poodles display their instinctive pointing characteristics.

Like many smaller dogs, toy Poodles are full of energy. They tend to yap to get attention because they thrive on consistent attention and throughly enjoy being spoiled. Poodles need companionship and they do not ever want to be alone. They will always stick with their masters. When you become indifferent towards them they become anxious and they might get unruly if often neglected.

Poodles are remarkably intelligent and they thrive with complicated obedience and trick training. They genuinely enjoy being mentally stimulated but unfortunately, their attention spans can sometimes be very short. When training Poodles, it is best to do it in areas with few distractions. Training should also be in short durations through out the day.

Being overly energetic breeds, owners must teach calm behaviors to their Poodles. If you allow them to jump at you and yap they will develop habits and it will be hard to correct them as they get older and set in their ways. Unwanted behaviors should be corrected as early as possible. Train them early to help them develop into the well-behaved house pets they are capable of being.

Training them should never be harsh. Poodles are very sensitive and they don’t respond well from scolding and spanking. Positive reinforcement with plenty of petting and over the top praises is the best approach to train Poodles.

Poodles are very eager to please. They are affectionate and never aggressive towards their people. They are considered social butterflies among humans and animals and are known to be very amiable. Poodles are naturally good with children. They are warm and playful with their young masters and mistresses. But this can only be achieved through extensive socialization while the Poodles are still young.

Play time is essential for this breed. Always try to find time to play with them. They may not require vigorous exercises but they need their regular dose of accompanied play and training.

They can adapt well in any type of living conditions. Poodles do not require expansive living areas to be happy. Apartment living is good enough for them to be happy at home. House training Poodles is amazingly easy as they are naturally clean and with consistent training they will understand where the appropriate spot to use the bathroom is.

Having a well-trained Poodle as a companion will make you a fanatic of the breed. They are fun, funny, friendly, loyal, and loving pets.
