Creating a Beach Theme Bedroom
Some people just can’t stand the thought of summer being over! If you are one of those people, then try creating your very own beach-theme bedroom, to enjoy for the entire year. When transforming your bedroom into a beach-theme, keep in mind the simple things in life. Adding too many nautical items will only clutter the room. Think of how a beach would look; simple, airy and relaxing.
You want to create a simple and relaxed atmosphere, as if you were just relaxing on a beach or island somewhere. A few simple ideas and easy tricks will have you on your way to a tropical paradise in your room.

Wall treatments
Use colours that will relax and soothe. Pastel shades of green, blue, yellow and beige are fabulous choices to use on the walls. Adding a bit of bold with black or dark wood frames is also a nice touch with these colours. Choose basic wallpaper or do it yourself with a faux wall idea. Using sponges and textured fabrics to paint with will create this look wonderfully!

Window Treatments
Use light and airy window treatments that stay very basic. Remember, you are supposed to be at the beach! Imagine the curtains blowing in the wind. An easy and affordable solution for this is to use tab-top or tie back curtains and panels. Wooden rods will work beautifully with tab-top curtains. You can leave them as unfinished or pine wood or maybe get creative by painting them white or a match to your wall treatments.

Furniture
Furniture will be the most important items in the room. You want to stay away from dark and heavy looking furniture. Choosing wicker is a wonderful idea. It is light and breezy, not too dark or heavy, so it keeps with the beach theme. You can purchase a wicker furniture set that includes everything you need for the entire room. If you wish to decorate on a tighter budget, try white-washing existing furniture. This is simple to do and costs a fraction of what purchased furniture sets would cost.

You can create a white wash look just by thinning your white paint down and lightly brushing over the wood. Remember not to cover the furniture with a thick coat of paint, just lightly brush over it.

Bedding
Use the colour you chose for your walls as a guide for what your bedding will be. You can easily find patterns that resemble a beach look with seashells or Hawaiian flowers in bright colours to off-set the pastel colours in the room.

Flooring
A white washed wood floor will create the illusion of sand or natural ground. It is very simple to do and will be much more affordable than carpeting or laminate. Keep it light and simple too. Picture sand on the beach and stick with those pigments. If painting your floors is not a solution you wish to do, try keeping your existing flooring and just add a beach element with throw rugs or an area rug in neutral colours. Sage greens are a perfect choice for adding colour to an existing floor.

Accessories
Go on a scavenger hunt for items to decorate with. No need in spending a lot of cash to get a beach look, use the beach instead! Gather seashells, driftwood, empty bottles and washed up sea critters, such as star fish or hermit crab shells. Add a few hanging plants as well as potted plants or trees to bring life to the room.
Voila! You have your very own beach setting now. Enjoy!
