The UK has been hit over the recent months by the deepest and darkest recession since 1991 – this economic downturn was first thought to be only a ‘credit crunch’ however, it has quickly turned into something much more.

Since 1991 the UK has enjoyed a sustained period of economic growth, house prices boomed, unemployment reached its lowest levels for a number of years and the Pound performed well against the likes of the Dollar and Euro. This is now a thing of the past as we brace ourselves for the tough times ahead.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has visited Loughborough University with a view to backing the country out of recession and getting people back into work. Gordon Brown has said that University of Loughborough is a good example to the country of where education and industry could work together and help Britain bounce back from the economic crisis.

Loughborough University is helping the people who study with them by giving them tips on how to get jobs during these difficult times. Voluntary work has also been touted as a good way for people to aid the local community. The University has also collected information from other employees around Loughborough giving advice on what students should do and what they should expect with the amount of job cuts in Loughborough.

The recession has not only affected homeowners but also affected the councils, so the local City Council is set to cut more jobs as they continue to fight the effects of this recession.

Also Libraries around Loughborough are seeing an increase in visitors as the UK finds itself in a recession. People have turned to public libraries during hard times - for cheaper entertainment, to help with employment, and to help them save money. Also a way of saving money for people to borrow books rather than buy them. Library staffs have noted a large increase in the number of people utilising the free internet access, many of whom are using the free access to hunt for jobs in the local Loughborough area.

Both the Government and Loughborough City Council have realised that the best way to help kick start the economy is to spend! You can help Loughborough defy the recession simply by spending a small amount of money to promote your business on the internet. The best way you can help would be by promoting your business online with Activ Loughborough.

Just a small outlay (less than how much it costs to advertise in the local paper for one night) will purchase advertising space on Loughborough’ best local community town site - spending money to advertise your business on the net will allow more people to see your company and divert more visitors to your website and potentially more customers to your business. With Activ Loughborough being a local website made for the community of Loughborough it will also mean that most people that will come to your site are likely to be local and will boost your local reputation amongst the local people. The visitors to the website can find a huge amount of local information, from shops, to cars for sale, restaurants to eat in, or importantly, up to date jobs in and around Loughborough. So no matter what you need in Loughborough, Activ Loughborough has it covered!

By promoting your business on Activ Loughborough you are potentially helping to put Loughborough in an even better place to help fight against the recession.
