When many people think about planting a tree, they do not realize that in order to plant a tree there are several things that you need to consider. You can’t simply just dig a single hole and throw the tree into that space and expect it to strive and grow without any ailments.

There are a few basic things that you need to do in order to assure that the plant that you decide to plant will not only be planted but will continue to strive and grow for years to come.

The first thing that you need to take into account is the time of year that you are looking to plant the tree in. Believe it or not in order to plant a tree that will stay alive and be able to survive during adverse conditions you have to plant it at the time of year that is right for the tree.

Normally you should never plant a tree in late spring or summer. The extra eat that comes billowing off of the sun during these periods of time will cause immense amount of stress on the tree which will then lead to its fatality. The best time to consider planting your tree is around autumn or early spring.

The next thing that you need to be aware of is if there are any requirements around the place that you will be digging. Sometimes in cases where people will be digging deep holes in which they wish to plant a tree in they need to make sure that they are not digging around any phone lines or cable lines that may be buried below the surface.

You should then look at the place where you plan on planting the tree in. You should choose a suitable region and climate for the tree that you wish to plant. If you decide to plant a tree that is not a native of a particular climate, you need to consider different factors about the tree such as the growth habits of the tree and how much tolerance the tree has to different weather conditions.

After finding out all of the precautions about planting a tree you can then commence in the process. You should consider planting your tree in a hole that is at least 2-3 times the size of its main root ball. You want the roots to be able to lay comfortably in the soil.

You should take the tree out of the bucket that it was settling in and place it into the hole that you have just dug for it. After digging your hole it would behoove you to place a sufficient amount of fertilizer on top of the trees roots to give them something to feed off of.

After the proper amount of fertilizer has been added, which should be to the top of your hole where the tree is planted you can then proceed to cover the fertilizer with an adamant amount of dirt so the roots nor the fertilizer will be exposed to any outdoor ailments.
