Prepare for a breathtaking experience that begins as you enter the majestic lobby of the Chicago Theatre. Soak in the beauty of the murals on the ceiling as you walk into the auditorium. Originally designed as a replica of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the Chicago Theatre is given credit as the prototype for movie theaters in the United States. One steps into the lobby in awe of the grand staircase and the five story high ceilings; almost as tall as the letters on the outside of the front of the building which are six stories high to spell out the city’s name C-H-I-C-A-G-O. Many movies have taken themes from this famous theater that has no competitors when it comes to originality.

First opened in 1921 with 125 ushers for guests who presented seats to guests for the low price of 35 cents during the day and 50 cents at night to enjoy a show. Many world renowned celebrities have graced the stage of the Chicago Theatre including timeless greats such as Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and John Phillip Sousa. Some of the greatest venues ever have had long running success as the Chicago Theatre. None kept this classic from closing in 1985 but the close was very short lived and after nine months and the outlay of millions of dollars, the Chicago Theatre reopened in 1986.

Tickets to musical events of the biggest stars and smartest products are what the Chicago Theatre offers. From Robin Williams to the Allman Brothers, this 3,600 seat auditorium that is seven stories high and more than a city block wide, is the place where people go to enjoy such venues. Both private and public events are held at the Chicago Theatre with main floor, mezzanine and balcony seating; all of which afford exquisite views of the stage.

The Civic Opera House, conveniently situated in the heart of downtown Chicago, is at 20 North Wacker Drive and has been the home of the Lyric Opera of Chicago for some time now. A visit to the downtown area puts this splendid venue right at your dispose and is a must-visit house for taking in a show. Many Broadway shows have played at the Civic Opera House including The Phantom of the Opera. A delightful combination of art deco and art nouveau, many visitors regard the Civic Opera House as one of the most beautiful houses in the United States.

Musical talents such as Frank Sinatra have graced audiences with their talents and delighted attendees thanks to the Civic Opera House’s premium acoustics, luxurious seating and surroundings and top notch sight lines to the stage from all areas of the auditorium. This is an excellent location for private events as well and the options to make your special event a memorable at the Civic Opera House are virtually limited only by your imagination. Take a fairytale idea from concept to fruition in this beautiful venue that hosts many different types of events on a regular basis.

Concerts, presentations, graduations, productions, receptions, private dinners, standing receptions, festivities and more are all possible at the Civic Opera House. Choose from the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Foyer, Malott Room, William B. and Catherine Graham Room or the Ardis Krainik Theatre within the Civic Opera House to make a dream of today into a reality for tomorrow. An intimate event for a group of 50 or a grand scale production with nearly 4,000 excited participants in attendance, the choice is yours and the Civic Opera House will help you make it happen. Check out the Civic Opera House today and see the difference.
