Bali – Rent a Car That’s Right For You.

We all love vacations; going on holiday with the family or with our significant other or even just for ourselves is one of the great joys in life. This joy is made ever more exciting when the destination is an island paradise such as the rich-in-culture Bali. You’ve probably been excitedly planning every excursion and experience, making your reservations for your accommodations and even planning your flight itinerary; but, have you put any thought into how you will get around Bali? If you do plan your trip to Bali, rent the car and decide right away if you will hire a driver or drive yourself. In order to drive yourself you will need to get the proper documentation taken care of ahead of time. You will need a permit to drive internationally. The international driver’s permit is not difficult to obtain; all you need to do is be 18 years of age or older and then fill out a few online forms, provide passport-style photos, provide a copy of the front and back of your valid driver’s license and pay a $15 US fee to AAA (American Automobile Association) to have the paperwork drawn up for your international permit.

The international driver’s permit is not a stand-alone license; you will need to use it in conjunction with your normal state-issued driver’s license. You should also be aware that AAA is the only agency certified to provide an international permit if you reside in the US. Be very careful of those who claim to be able to get you a stand-alone international driver’s license as this is most likely a fraudulent company or agency.

When you get to Bali and rent a car then you should also familiarize yourself with the rules of the road and the area in which you’; be traveling and visiting. You should know what the peak traffic times are and you should know that you may get stuck behind huge ceremonial processions that might take up the entire roadway. There is also heavy foot traffic in Bali; it’s a very hot tourist locale. Roads may be narrower due to pedestrians and you may need to drive very slowly to avoid incident. There are even some roads between buildings or landmarks that may be too narrow for more than one vehicle; in such cases, you should be very well practiced in your reverse driving skills.

The travel agency or reservation booking agency, or even your Bali rent a car agency may have more information such as pamphlets, booklets or websites where you can find out the important driving information. You can also check the AAA office nearest you for information or you can find their website and read some helpful tips.
