If you're in the market for a new binding machine, perhaps you're overwhelmed with all the manufacturers out there and the wide array of products available. However, a little bit of knowledge can help you make a decision that will benefit your company, as well as keep your costs under control. Read on to learn more about the most prominent binding machine manufacturers and some of their most popular products.

1. Akiles: Despite being fairly new to the binding product industry, Akiles has already made a name for itself with their top-notch products. Much of their reputation has been built upon the popularity of their CoilMatic spiral binding machines as well as their WireMac wire binding products. Both product lines are exceptionally well-made and contain some great features, and they're fast becoming the industry standard when it comes to desktop spiral coil and wire binding machines.

2. GBC/Ibico: General Binding Corporation (GBC), also known as Ibico, is by far the largest and most well-known manufacturer of binding machines and supplies. In the office supply business since 1947, GBC is best known for its exceptional comb binding machines, specifically the GB CombBind C250 and the GBC CombBind C800Pro. GBC also makes modular binding equipment, including modular interchangeable die punches such as the GBC MagnaPunch and GBC MP2500ix.

3. PDI Rhin-O-Tuff: GBC may be the most well-known binding machine manufacturer, but it has a major competitor in PDI Rhin-O-Tuff. PDI's products are not only well-made, they're designed to punch more pages in one go than any other equipment currently on the market, which is a great feature time-saving feature. The Rhin-O-Tuff HD7700 can punch up to 55 pages per lift - 10 pages more than GBC's Magnapunch. Also available is Rhin-O-Tuff's HD7500, the only 24"-wide punch available. It's perfect for binding large documents, such as calendars.

4. Renz: With a wide assortment of well-built binding machines, Renz sets itself apart from the competition in a couple of ways. First, their coil binding equipment comes with an easy-to-use integrated crimper, which eliminates the need for coil crimping pliers. Secondly, when it comes to coil binding, Renz is the only manufacturer to offer oval hole coil punching with their machines at no additional charge. If you're needing a solid, dependable machine with these added features, Renz is a brand you should definitely check out.

5. Tamerica Products: Tamerica's products included a full line of comb binding, wire binding, and coil binding machines. All of their machines are easy to use and sturdily built. One of their top products is the DuraCoil EL inserter, which has several special features that differentiate it from anything else on the market, including a Teflon-coated base.

These are the top binding equipment makers, but this is by no means an exhaustive list. Other companies such as Fellowes and Wilson Jones also produce top-quality products that could be beneficial to your business. If you have any questions about these companies or machines, or would like to compare two different machines, please be in touch.
