Santa Fe is rich in American Indian and Spanish culture. This city is home to hundreds of museums and art galleries. Canyon Road has over a hundred galleries in a mile stretch of road. You will find internationally recognized artists, Contemporary and world class Native American art galleries. There are also many original historic architectural buildings, sculptures and gardens to visit on this famous road.

No matter what type of art you are looking for you will find it on Canyon Road. You can visit galleries that feature 19th and early 20th century art or if your taste is in folk and tribal arts you will find a variety of galleries to browse through. Besides paintings there are a variety of arts and crafts to admire and purchase. If you are looking for contemporary glass, ceramic or fiber arts you will find it here. Santa Fe’s Canyon Road is also the place to find exquisite hand crafted jewelry.

For more than a hundred years artists and art lovers have flocked to Canyon Road, which is Santa Fe’s prime art gallery district. Santa Fe is the second largest art market in the nation and has more art galleries than any other city of its size. This is a place where a person can get lost in all of the history and culture of this unique place. When you walk onto Canyon Road you will feel like you stepped back in time to when this area was first established.

Canyon Road offers plenty of upscale places to shop and dine and this is one of the oldest parts of Santa Fe. In the beginning it was a residential area for the early Spanish Settlers. In the 1920’s artists from all over the world began to flock here and transformed the houses into galleries, studios and shops. This is a fun and unique place to visit and you will enjoy walking from place to place and experiencing this diverse area of Santa Fe. This area is best seen by foot because the road is narrow and parking is hard to find.

If you want a truly wonderful experience you should visit Canyon Road during the Christmas holidays. The road is lined with costumed carolers and the stores are all decorated. Luminaries are placed on the sidewalk and it is a pleasant and amazing atmosphere.

Canyon Road is home to more than a hundred art galleries and studios. It is also where you can find unique specialty shops, abode architecture and world class restaurants. If you want to experience fine dining at its best while you are on Canyon Road you should dine at Geronimo. It is a Canyon Road legend and is considered one of the finest restaurants in the country. The restaurant has a top notch chef that is known for his Southwestern dishes with Asian overtones. This is a dining experience that shouldn’t be missed while visiting Canyon Road. There is something for everyone to enjoy here and in the surrounding areas.
