Jessica Norman

My kid loves to sing. Even in her early age, we can detect a potential career on her someday. Every morning, when she wakes up in the morning, she would turn on the radio and listen to her favorite songs. We would always be surprise that she knows and can easily remember the lyrics after listening to it for a couple of times only. And she was 3 years old by that time! I know that she is more special, compared to other kids her age. Don’t get me wrong. I am not trying to be a stage mother here; I am merely saying what I am seeing. Even my friends and neighbors noticed it in her also. They are the ones who suggested that I train my daughter, develop and enhance her talent more. But she was too young for it. I know that it would be difficult for her to appreciate and follow the lessons well. So I decided that two years of wait will get her ready for it.

Two summers had passed; we enrolled her to a local singing instructor. We chose the nearest and the most experienced from them. Our neighbor recommended her to us. She was polite, trained, patient, and most of all, dedicated to her craft. It also helped that she loves children, having her own kids as well. The first time we came to her house and meet her, all the other possible candidates to be our daughter’s singing instructor was eliminated. We liked her from the very start. The mother’s intuition in me helped me decide in picking her; I knew that she was perfect for the job.

My daughter started her singing lessons the following week. I would drive her to her singing instructor’s house and listen outside the hall for her lessons. I choose not to be in the same room with them so she will not get distracted by my presence. And when we drive back to our house, I would ask her how did it go and what she have learned from her lessons earlier. She would answer me enthusiastically; happy of what she is doing. We never pushed her; we just let her do her thing. She would perform for us and we would give comments afterwards. She would also share her lessons to her younger sister. We would listen to them while they practice at their room. My other daughter, a year younger than her is fonder of dancing than singing, but she still listened to her older sister and learned.

For three months of five days a week training, her singing instructor informed us that she is ready. We gave her a party, invited friends and family for her singing debut in our house. That evening was one of the happiest parties we had thrown. Giving your kids proper training is beneficial for the both of you.

A little investment won’t hurt if the outcome came out better than you have expected, and more!
