Stress is one of the biggest problems of the modern day. Rather than talking about how stress causes all kinds of diseases and creates a hell in life, let us find out how to analyze our stress builders. After that we can probably decide how to handle stress better. Let us begin.

Have you taken time lately to decide what stresses you? Many times we find ourselves feeling stressed but we really can't put our finger on what it is that makes us feel so stressed. There are typical stressors that everybody faces and each person needs to take time to discover which ones are the biggest ones for them. Sometimes stress can be good as it gives us energy but other times it can zap all of our energy.

If you took time to think about your life and what causes you stress, you would be able to work around it or maybe stop it all together. The important thing is to break the cycle of being stressed long enough to identify which factors are unhealthy stressors and which ones you could turn into around to help you.

When a group of people were asked what their greatest stressors were, the usual topics were discussed. Work was the number one stress that most people feel and relationships seemed to be the next important thing. Work is something that everyone has to do and learning to deal with the stress is a normal, healthy way to approach the problem. If the stress can't be handled or dealt with in a healthy fashion, then it might be time to reconsider what it is that you do to make money. Many people have changed careers in midlife and that is one way to get rid of work stress.

Relationships were the next on the list of top stressors. That can include parents, families, or friends in the level of relationships.

One thing that you can't do anything about is the relationship you have with your parents and family, but you can try to keep the stress as little as possible. Don't try to have a storybook or television family because they were invented for entertainment and are not blueprints for real families. Trying to be like those families is probably one of the biggest stressors that face people today. Everyone has problems with their family, so you are probably not alone. Friends are another part of relationships, except that you can do something different there. You choose your friends but you can't choose your family. My girlfriend (an only child) gave me a magnet that says "Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves". So if you don't feel that way about your friends, then you should probably choose new ones so you can lessen your stress.

Romantic relationships need to be considered with family and friends. Sometimes we try to stick out a relationship that we are romantically involved in rather than look for a person where you don't have so many problems. When people are dating, problems that will arise after marriage are already starting to develop. That is when it is smart to determine if the relationship should be continued or dropped if there are too many stressors. I am not saying that once you are in a long term relationship, such as marriage, that you should just quit on the relationship because there is stress. There is always some stress in marriages and you should try to figure out better solutions than running away.

While you are trying to figure out what your greatest stressors are, you need to consider many other sources such as money, physical health, body image and fitness. We have considered the main two stressors, work and relationships.
