Spring break vacations are typically the wildest and most fun trips we will take in our lifetime. The memories we take from the experience will last forever and come up in conversation many times. Make sure it's a positive memory and not a negative one by choosing spring break packages that are affordable and offer the biggest bang for your buck.

Cheap spring break deals can be found if you know where to look. Most college students fall victim to impulse buying due to an abundance of party pictures, false incentives, and other things associated with most travel sites. It's important to look beyond the incentives to find the key elements of each package. The key elements are:

1) Transportation to the spring break destination. Are you cruising or flying? What are the days of departure? What is the flight or cruise departure time? Is it nonstop or will you be making one or more stops along the way? These are all questions that should be very important to you. Read the fine print. Don't end up taking the redeye because you didn't know that the flight left at midnight with multiple stops, getting you to your spring break destination 10 hours later than expected. Also, one important thing to keep in mind is that taking a cruise is often much cheaper than an airfare ticket. Cruising is also often more fun, especially when it comes to spring break vacations. The days of departure should also concern you. You get one week a year for this type of trip. It's not what one would consider "flexible dates". Make sure you don't depart midweek. Most college spring break students depart on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. If you want to be there when the bulk of the students are there, you need to depart on one of those days.

2) Hotel accommodations at the destination. Is it an economy hotel or an upscale hotel? Is the hotel all inclusive or are the meals, drinks, and other things not included in the price? How many days/nights at the hotel are included in the price of the trip? Does the hotel offer a free service that picks you up at the airport or ship port for free or will you be paying for a taxi? These are all questions that you should know before booking the trip with a travel agency. All inclusive spring break deals are hard to come by, but can be found. At first glance the price seems steep, but it's important to note that it's often cheaper to pay for all your food, drinks, alcoholic drinks, cruise or airfare ticket, club entry, and other things all at once rather than separate. Their are always exceptions to this rule. College spring break students that plan on eating at fast food restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner should not go with an all inclusive package. Cheap hotels are easy on the wallet but tough on you. Make sure you know what type of hotel your booking before you hand over your credit card. Free shuttle service is typically not that big of a deal. Just make sure it's not a 25 minute ride from the airport or ship port to the hotel and back.

Focus on booking a package that has the best of those elements listed above. Next, look at the package prices to find the lowest price. This will give you the cheapest spring break deal available for 2010.
