Kids love to swim. They will definitely enjoy a kiddie pool party. Learn how to successfully organize a fun and exciting pool party for your kid.

Outdoor parties can minimize soiling the internal parts of your home; especially when kids are around. It is convenient enough for you to keep the young guests from running around the house and damaging some prized possessions. This strategy will, likewise, prevent them from barging into the privacy of nearby rooms. However, organizing a kiddie pool party takes ample amounts of planning ahead and prepping.

The first thing to do is legwork. Distribute your invitations at least 5 to 7 days in advance. Let the people know that you are having a pool party. It will condition both the parents and the kids on the fun activity. It will also be helpful for you to ask about their kid’s swimming abilities. You can then prepare the necessary precautionary measures. Neighbors would also appreciate it if they are told that there will be an outdoor party in your place. It is a sign of courtesy.

Once you are informed about the swimming abilities of the children you’ve invited, set up precaution policies. You can orient the kids and their parents as soon as they arrive or once they invade your backyard. It is also helpful to prepare life jackets or water wings for the beginners.

Make sure that there are adults to supervise the party round the clock. You may even ask a relative or a friendly neighbor who are good swimmers to help out as lifeguards. Inform the young guests about the precautionary measures that they need to take. Do not miss out even on minute details like where the slippery grounds are. This way, you can prevent, if not, minimize injuries.

Have the meals outside. This will avoid staining your sofa or have you painstakingly mop-off sticky floors and/or furniture. Prepare both heavy meals and finger foods. Your young guests could go hungry from swimming. They would be delighted if there is something to pop into their mouths once in a while. When the serious swimming is over, serious eating is also bound to take place. Candies and little toys for loot bags are also a plus to the guests.

Animate your party with cool music. Of course, it will be necessary to adapt your music to the age group you invited for the party. Research from kids of the same age group about popular songs they listen to and create a playlist. It would be valued if the volume is set in consideration with the neighbors’ tolerance. Furthermore, make sure that the equipment is nowhere near the pool or somewhere it could get wet or bumped into.

Set up two or three games and/or group activities. One interesting activity is having water bomb balloons for a game of hot potato. The children will form a circle and pass around a water bomb until the music stops. The child caught with the water bomb in his/her hand is sprayed with water. The same consequence is given to the one who drops or pops the water balloon. He/She is also eliminated from the game but the child gets to spray water to the next kid. The last child standing gets to soak all the other kids with water.

Of course, informing the kids beforehand that they will get sprayed with water as a consequence will add excitement to the game. Another use for the water bomb balloons is a water balloon fight. It can jumpstart everyone to participate and become ecstatic about getting wet.

If you are up to doing this, make sure that everyone aims at each other below the chest. Explain the hazards and discomfort of getting smacked by a water balloon in the face or getting water in the eyes.

You can also prepare inflated balls in the pool for some other water games they can try on their own. Badminton sets, volleyball and playing “catch” are also interesting games they can engage in, whether organized or played on their own.

Setting up the party mood with decorations is also important. Spread out brightly colored balloons around the yard and into the pool. The children’s eyes will surely brighten up at the sight of floating colorful balloons in the water. Flaglets, inflatable palm trees, beach balls can also add to the attraction of the party. Using colorful or printed plates and drinking cups will, likewise, make partying fun.
