It is possible that you may have the best product on the internet. You may have a killer sales letter that could sell ice to the Eskimos. But if nobody has seen your product or sales letter then you won't make a thing.

For that reason marketers spend most of their time, money and effort trying to get their offers in front of as many, targeted, hungry, receptive prospects as possible. But does it all have to be so hard? Well, not if you know the best marketing methods that work.

Start today with these three proven marketing methods.

#1: Social Media Marketing

It feels that social media marketing has been with us for a while now but the truth is that it is very much still in its embryonic stage. This kind of marketing is set to explode in the next few years and those who are smart enough to get set up now are the ones who are set to reap the rewards.

The reason for this is that social media marketing is all about that most important aspect of marketing - relationships. You can build up relationships, reputation, networks and contacts through the use of social media sites. You can establish yourself as an expert in your niche and as you build your social media network, the more you will benefit when you fully utilise the advantages of having a good reputation, a network of followers and good content.

So where should you begin? I would suggest using some of the biggest social media sites with the largest reach.

- Web 2.0 content sites like hubpages.com and squidoo.com. These sites allow you to build specific, niche-based one-page websites that you can fill with useful content. Google likes these pages and tends to crawl them often and rank them highly.

- Social Networking Sites. Sites like myspace.com and facebook.com allow you to find or even create niche-specific groups of people. These are great sites for building up a community of like-minded individuals who share the same tastes. If you build up relationships with these people then they will become your customers in the future.

- Social Bookmarking Sites. Sites such as stumbleupon.com, sphinn.com and digg.com. These sites can be a useful tool when building your viral marketing campaigns. These sites allow users to share content that they have found in specific niches.

#2: Marketing Through Search Engines

This should be a regular part of your marketing efforts as all the content that you provide should be optimized for the search engines to find and rank.

So how do you get traffic from the search engines? Well, there are two ways.

1. From using specific keywords and keyword phrases within your content, ranking well and showing in the search engine results when someone types in that keyword or phrase.

2. Or you can use Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising in order to appear in the search engines sponsored results. The best example of this is Google Adwords.

Both of these methods are valuable additions to your marketing toolbox. Can you imagine receiving natural, organic traffic straight from the search engines for months or even years to come, all for free? And PPC advertising allows you to target those people looking for a specific thing, instantly.

#3: Purchasing Advertising Space

Another way to get your product or service in front of those hungry purchasers is by placing adverts in a targeted way. This can be done both online and offline.

Online examples include:

- Niche specific ezines and newsletters. Search for your niche plus "ezines" on Google for a start
- Buy advertising space on blogs aimed at your niche.
- Purchase ad space or banner ads on targeted niche sites

You can also do this in offline publications. Find a regular publication within your niche, place an ad telling people where to see your offer. Remember to try and capture their details at this point.

Which Method Is For You?

These are methods that have been tried, tested and successful for many years and they are not about to stop now. Don't concentrate on one method but instead concentrate on using them as part of a complete marketing strategy. Cast your net wide and you will catch those prospects.
