There’s definitely nothing wrong if your dog barks. That’s how they “talk” to you, besides running all around your legs or wagging their tails and tongue. However, you could find yourself in trouble when your pet doesn’t stop barking and if he does to almost everything and everyone.

A dog barking nuisance can bring about the following:

Complaint Letters Coming from Neighbors

When your dog barks non-stop, the first people who will get affected will be your neighbors. This is especially true if you’re living in a clustered community, such as townhouses, condominiums, and apartments. They would be disturbed from their daily activities and would never achieve peace of mind.

If they have babies, moms and dads will wish that your pet can at least tone down his or her barks, so their newborn or children won’t have to wake up in the middle of the night.

Now, if you don’t do something about it, they may be forced to send you a complaint letter—and it’s going to be a problem. Most of the states and towns these days have their own laws and ordinances concerning about animal control and behavior, such as barking. You may be forced to surrender your dog or even be kicked out from the community if you don’t give in to their demands.

Frightened Guests

You could be one of those who love to entertain people. The problem is you won’t be able to do that if you have barking dogs. Of course, your guests would find it very scary to sit down in your living room or even pass by your lawn while your dog has his or her eyes and endless barking directed at them. Like your neighbors, they would not have peace of mind. Besides, can all of you communicate properly if there’s noise in the background?

Scared Kids

It’s not only your guests who will feel intimidated or frightened. Your kids will too, particularly if they didn’t grow up together with the dogs. Your children would always associate endless barking with viciousness. Thus, they would start to believe that their own pet can harm them. You can’t expect your kids to be running around the lawn or be together with your pet at one time.

Loss of Peace of Mind

When you sum up all the above-mentioned scenarios, you know that it’s going to boil down to one thing: loss of peace of mind. When you discover that your loved ones and friends are already bothered, you too would also feel the same way.

Know What to Do

Training your dog to control his or her barking is hard, especially if he or she is already born that way. What you can do then is to use a dog bark collar. This is a device that sends out high-pitched waves when your pet starts to bark. The sound doesn’t harm him or her, but it will definitely startle him or her. When he or she realizes that cause of the trigger, he or she will start to learn how to minimize his or her barks.
