There are two main reasons why fat accumulates in the body: food and toxins. If you are not eating the correct foods, you will not lose the fat. But if you are following a good dietary plan, then the next most important step is to get the toxins out of the body.

We are living in a toxic world: GMO foods; chemical and organic pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, and fertilizers; contaminated water; smog. We spray chemical perfumes, smear on deodorants, wash our body and hair with chemical detergents, clean our homes with dangerous chemicals, the list goes on. This toxic environment causes a heavy demand on our bodies and its' ability to stay healthy.

The body's organs are essential to life; your body knows this. When it is exposed to toxins it desperately tries to eliminate them. The body has various methods of dealing with these toxins: They are broken down by the liver and emptied into the digestive system to be eliminate with feces, processed for removal in urine by the kidneys, excreted through various glands by the skin, and exhaled through the lungs. But when your body is over burdened and overwhelmed with toxins (like in today's current environment) it cannot remove them all, and in order to protect itself, it stores them in fat. Storing the toxins in fat keeps them as far away from the vital organs as possible.

If you are not following a specific fat loss plan that instructs you in eating correctly, go to the weight loss section to learn more. But if you are exercising, eating right, and still not losing the fat; you may have a toxic overload.

The first step is to remove the source of exposure to the toxins. Choosing to eat organic and drink pure water is a good first step. When you're ready, you need to start actively removing the toxins; once they begin to go, the fat will too.
