The most amazing reality show ever created called “Pimp my ride” is produced by MTV. In the entire episode one car in a very poor condition is taken and transformed into something unrecognizable. The cars are restored, customized and given a new look. The original version of this series was started in USA and was hosted by the famous rapper Xzibit. Nowadays MTV2 hosts the UK version of “Pimp my ride” hosted by DJ Tim Westwood, which also features customization of cars in the UK. There is also another version of this show called “Pimp my ride International” which features cars being customized in central Europe hosted by hip hop artists Fat Joe and Lil’ Jon.

The American show basically shows young car owners living in Los Angeles or in southern California being picked up and their ride gets pimped for absolutely nothing. Normally an episode of this show begins by showing the young participant flaunting his or her car and the need for it to get “pimped”. Once this is done, the host of the show himself turns up at the house of the participant and self examines the car. He makes several wise cracks about the vehicle and promises a complete makeover for that car to the owner. After the car is examined, the host takes it to a custom body shop (the West Coast customs in seasons 1-4 and the Galpin Auto Sports from season 5). It is here that the shop crew rebuilds the interior and the exterior, and in some cases, the engine too.

The cars are tailored to match the desires and personalities of their respective owners. The work done on the car normally includes painting and accessorizing the car with special specific equipments such as racing car seats, LED head lights and tail lights, spoiler and many others. Other than these the other basic work includes remodeling the tires and wheels or redesigning the internal electronic gadgets such as the stereo systems, the sound box, large TFT screens and others. This show not only shows the cosmetic and mechanical alteration of the vehicles but sometimes even the replacement of the engine.

At the closure of the show, the car is disclosed to the owners along with the details of the renovation and the custom tailoring done. Apart from this, the show also gives the owner a special gift either relating to the hobby of the owner or his or her personality or just something that would go well with their car.

For those who think this show might be boring are in for a real shock. This show is equally humorous as it is educative. The edgy tone from the body shop team and the wise cracks and dry, sarcastic remarks from the host keeps this show live and entertaining.

The appeal in this show also comes from the personalities involved in this show. Most of the audience is familiar with the cast and crew of the show and the work shop. This creates not only fun in the show but also creates lots of friends on the set. The best part about this show is the magnificent make up that the best car crew in the United States gives to your car, that too for free. Now who doesn’t want that?
