In today’s economy, people are struggling to make money. The traditional means of marketing via door-to-door sales is no longer efficient. The way to market your business, sell services and/or your product is via online marketing. However, not everyone succeeds in online sales for they do not utilize the top four basic rules on how to run a successful online marketing campaign.

1. Always address online group needs with a valuable solution.

If you are networking with customers and building business relationships online then post vital information benefitting customers. Online business is about trust, and the way to build trust is by offering and exchanging information that will help your customers and/or potential business partners. For instance, if someone posts on your blog a question or needs guidance in a particular arena, and you know the answer, then relay the desired information. This gesture will be perceived in a positive manner building a relationship between you and your consumers. In addition, if members of your online networking site are discussing certain topics and need help, resolve these issues immediately. It will add value to the discussion and provide current sought after answers.

2. Online networking is not a one way street.

Your online networking group needs the same attention as any other potential customer group you may have; therefore, if someone from your online group asks a question, then do not sit on the message. Reply as soon as you are available. The more communication you send both ways the better. It provides a solid foundation for your network. Many online customers will complain about the lack of customer service provided by online business and/or online networking connections. Thus, prevent your business from falling into that negative category.

3. Use your manners. People take the time to read discussions and make comments on professional and/or social online groups. When this occurs remember to say thank you for the input. You may show gratitude publicly by making a comment or send it to the person in a private message. Either way you should say thank you. People are more apt to assist you when needed by exhibiting manners. Manners transcend to online networking and are not reserved for in-person interaction only. You’d be surprised by how many professional networking opportunities become solid due to this one simple task.

4. Add personal messages with invites. When you send invites for people to join your social and/or business networking sites, then add a message with it. Do not send blind invites. When you affix a personal message, then it begins to establish a bond between you and the person. You are trying to build trust, and this is the beginning phase of it. Think about it. How many invites do you receive a day on Facebook? How many do you reject, because there is no personal message attached? This is a way to identify your business page and separate it from the rest.
