Is there a cure for writer block?

Sure. You’ll be happy to know that overcoming writer block doesn’t involve any magic formula or complicated mumbo jumbo.

Simply stop believing it.

Yeah, you read it right. I’ll repeat.

Stop believing you have writer block.

I mean, you can get all melodramatic and disagree with me, but answer this question:

Is writer block a disease?

No.

Is it an affliction?

Maybe.

Is it all in your head?

Most definitely.

Why keep believing in something that causes you many days of melancholy and stress. Snap out of it!

There’s no such thing as writer block.

You’ve reached a natural stopping point, that’s all.

If there’s one tip on writing a book you need to remember, it’s that it’s perfectly natural to reach a point where the words temporarily stop flowing.

This is what some author’s call writer block.

Don’t panic.
Don’t pull your hair out.
Don’t bite your nails.
Don’t give up and mope around.

There’s a reason why the words stopped flowing. Find the reason and you’ll solve the problem.

Are you bored with your story and/or characters?
(If so, you need to rework these until you feel the excitement)

Is your story underdeveloped?
(Go back and fill in the plot)

Got great characters, but a weak story or vice versa?
(Put this project aside until you find a great match for both)

Run out of things to say for your non-fiction book?
(Go back and plump up your book’s outline--give yourself more talking points)

Worried about how to tackle this HUGE writing project?
(Focus ONLY on writing that first sentence. After that, write the second sentence, then third, etc.)

There. I just saved you some time and aggravation on seeking help for writer block.

Remember: Inspiration + Passion + Preparedness = No Writer Block
