Decorating using artificial topiary is much like an art with a little science in it. It is an art in that it is a skill that you need to acquire but it is also a science in that certain colors will always blend with certain colors, shapes with certain shapes, and so on. But if you want to be a great decorator using artificial topiary trees and plants, you need to know the skill of how to make virtually any artificial topiary plant work with any decorative environment. This page will show you what steps you’ll need to take to make sure that your topiaries fit the environment you put them and make it all the more pleasurable to see.

The first thing you’ll want to do is choose the area in the garden, home or office that you want to place the artificial topiary plant in. Be specific about exactly where you wan to place the topiary or where you want the decorations to be. Stand back at look at the area. Notice the shapes of the topiaries or plants that are there. How do they work together? How do they flow? Do you see a pattern? Is there a story being told? What about the colors? While most plant topiaries, artificial and natural, are green, many still have other colors? Do the colors flow too? Do they blend well?

After you have answered the above questions now ask yourself exactly what you want to achieve. What is the purpose of your decoration? Did you notice something that you didn’t like? Did you notice a color or pattern that was not flowing with the whole scene? What made you want to buy an artificial topiary and place it where you want to? Determine exactly what you want to achieve. Have you looked at the mood or story being told in the area where you want to do the decorations? If you have topiaries in the garden already, many times they’ll tell a story. It may be as comical as a fox chasing chickens, or as considerable as the royal splendor and majesty that dominated old Europe.

As you consider your decorations, have a picture in mind. Start constructing a shape of the topiary you want in your head. What do you see? Can you imagine the topiary being there? Can you imagine it blending perfectly with the environment and achieving exactly what you want? After this, use a piece of paper to draw a sketch of the topiary you want. Determine the shape, size, height, width, and color of the topiary you want. You might also want to draw the surrounding areas so you can make sure that the topiary you pick will fit. Make sure your topiary does not contrast with the environment. Let it blend with it and bring forth more beauty from your decorations.

Lastly, go and buy the topiary. A good way to make sure you don’t spend more than you have budgeted is to select a few sellers from the yellow pages. Pick about 20 if they are that many. Then call each one and ask them how much the kind of topiary you have in mind would cost? Ask about color and shape. Next visit the store and look at the topiaries. Look at the color and shape. Pick the one that so closely resembles the topiary you have in mind. Feel the artificial topiary plant. Is it durable? Will it last in the conditions you plan to put it in? When you’re done, buy it. When you do your decorations, you’ll be sure your topiary will fit and work with your environment.
