When it comes to remodeling their bathroom, most people pay a lot of attention to everything but the one thing that can really turn their bathroom into a masterpiece of design.

They spend hours choosing the colors of the wall. They pore over catalogs to chose exactly the right tiles for the surrounds. The floor receives a lot of attention. And when it comes to choosing the bath, there's no shortage of time to think of every possible shape size and color.

But the one thing that really grabs attention in a bathroom is none of these things. The thing that really makes your guests notice that real attention to detail has gone into your bathroom design is your bathroom vanity. After all, whenever people go into the bathroom it's usually to look at themselves in the mirror at some point. This is done either before, during or after washing their hands in the washbasin.

And it's then that they notice the bathroom vanity. In fact, the bathroom vanity is the center piece of any bathroom. It's like a statue in the centre of the lawn. Just as the eye is drawn naturally to a statue in the middle of open space, so the eye is drawn naturally to a mirror in a room.

And if the mirror and cabinet (the vanity) is of poor design, or worse a bit shoddy, the whole effect of the bathroom design is lost.

But it doesn't need to be like that. These days there are a huge range of bathroom vanities on the market to suit every taste and pocket.

There is everything from the ultra-modern and sleek look of formica and chrome to the ancient look of old wood and varnish. And not all of the ancient looking bathroom vanities need to be bought "new". There are many places where antique vanities can be bought. Once refurbished and brought up to standard these antique bathroom vanities can bring a real note of elegance to a bathroom.

You spend a lot of time in planning and redecorating your bathroom. It's a shame to spoil the whole effect by not paying attention to what is rightly the centerpiece of any bathroom. The bathroom vanity. Find one that suits your style, and then listen to your guests awed comments when they return to the dinner table!
