Relocating with work is becoming increasingly common. Although some companies find places for their employees to live, the majority of those moving have to make their own arrangements.

When it comes to finding somewhere to live, the first thing you have to decide is what type of accommodation you are looking for. Do you want to live in a serviced apartment, hotel or private rental property?

Serviced apartments are becoming more and more popular amongst relocating executives. In general they are around 25% cheaper than hotels and are much more spacious. If you stay in a serviced apartment you can spread out and enjoy flexible living since you have all the facilities on hand that you probably have in your own home. Furthermore, because you can cook for yourself and do your own laundry your incidental costs will be lower than if you were staying in a hotel.

Hotels are good solutions for travelers who are only staying in a new location for a couple of days at a time. Everything is done for you (cooking, cleaning and laundry) which means that when you get back from the office you can totally relax.

Private property rentals suit people who want to stay somewhere for a long period of time. This is because tenancy agreements are normally in place for about a year with a break clause after six or eight months.

Once you have decided what type of accommodation you want, the next thing to consider is your preferred location. For instance do you want to be based near to where you will be working or would you prefer to live outside of the city and travel in? If so, you will probably want to be situated near transport facilities.

You would also be well advised to visit your embassy in the country that you are moving to. Officials there will be able to answer any questions that you may have about your host country’s laws safety and traveling.
