You may be wondering if there is much to a desktop calculator. Obviously, we have all used a desktop calculator at some point, and they might all seem the same. In one respect they are all the same. They, more or less, all do basic math with an added bell or whistle here and there. However, if you have to work with long sets of intricate math problems, you will be able to understand the importance of a well designed desktop calculator.

The first major difference in a good desktop calculator is the design of the layout. The best desktop calculators that most businesses prefer have a larger than usual number pad for fast, accurate pressing. Here is a great informational site on finances http://www.finanicialstory.com. Larger buttons may sound silly, but they actually reduce the number of mistakes typically made because of the buttons being so small that the person hit the wrong key without even realizing it. Another added feature that prevents mistakes is a larger viewing screen to allow for the person to see the numbers more easily as they are entered into the desktop calculator.

If you have to work with very long columns of figures, the most useful desktop calculator would be one with a printer. These printer calculators keep track of the whole line of work as it prints it on a scroll of paper. If something doesn’t seem to add up, you can easily refer back to the print out to verify accuracy or to find mistakes.

These nicer desktop calculators can also store all of your operations so that you can easily find mistakes and correct them. Having these backups will come in handy when you have done hundreds of figures with only one tiny, but inevitable, mistake.

Having one of the professionally designed desktop calculators can help you eliminate many costly mistakes. Although they may be a bit pricier than a handheld cheapy calculator, it will pay for itself when you catch that first big mistake that would have cost you a lot of money.
