ADD or ADHD is a number of symptoms which affect the ability to concentrate and focus.Three core symptoms are Hyperactivity, Inattention and Impulsivity.

The two forms of ADD are - with hyperactivity, or - without hyperactivity.

With hyperactivity is easier to diagnose as these children are constantly in motion. They rarely sit still, interupt others, and can have temper tantrums more often than the other kids around them. Symptoms are always present before the age of seven, and can continue into adolescence.

Without hyperactivity is more difficult to recognise. These children appear to be anxious and shy to the point of being excessively withdrawn, and can show evidence of learning difficulties.

There are quite a number of tell-tail symptoms to look out for, which include;

-hyperactivity

-mood swings

-difficulty paying attention and following directions

-restlessness

-sleeplessness

-recklessness

-depression

-can't pay attention for long

-can't follow directions

-problems with reading and writing

-intensly emotional

-impulsiveness

-behavior is disruptive

-tantrums

-defiance

-destructive possibly with violence

-can't get on with other children

-jealous of others

-must have constant attention

-low grades in school

ADD or ADHD is more common in boys than girls, but the symptoms often become less severe as teenagers and into early adulthood. This may be due to the individual learning to compensate for the difficulties they experience rather than the condition being cured.

Some of the causes and reasons for ADD symptoms are -

-allergies

-diet

-food intolerance

-anxiety

-family problems

-depression

-low muscle tone

-some illness problems

Care must be taken to ensure that a consulting Doctor does not simply prescribe a drug without a thorough examination and assessment to discover the root cause of the child's problem.

Natural Remedies and Medicines

Natural medicines have a high success rate in the treatment of behavioral and emotional disorders in children, and as they are obtained from Natural substances, and are diluted, they do not have the side effects possible form prescribed drugs.

Natural Remedies as used in Homeopathy is a safe and effective option open to parents who have doubts and fears of regular drugs which could be prescribed by a Doctor.
